The Back to Mine series...an obvious take on the phrase spoken amongst clubbers after a big night "lets go back to mine"...and so we hear what artists would be playing on their stereos if we went back to theirs.
Namely it's a collection of choons that obviously inspired the artist, but also with a chill out element.
I had never heard of Richard X until aquiring this album, but I love this album. It has a real sense of humour about it. Lots of 80s tracks "you'll always find him in the kitchen at parties" and Heaven 17 among them.
By far the stand out track...and prob the best reason for getting this is Pete Shelley (formally of the Buzzcocks) doing Homosapien...the full 6 min version. It's outstanding. Mix this up with some electro, and hip hop and you've got a perfect genre blending album.
Cause lets face it, no one likes just one type of music. We've all a selection of genres in our CDs. This album moves through electro, hip-hop, 80s and post punk in a beautiful way.
Not just for chilling out, this is probably one of the more upbeat Back to Mine albums. Buy it. Now.
