5.0 out of 5 stars from the back streets to the front line, 22 Sep 2008
By Terry Palmer - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)

The author keeps you interested from start to finish. Growing up in the rough streets of Cardiff and giving an insight into how tough life could be in the 1930's. He lets you into the heart of family life and how it would have been at that time. How large families with no money survived. How they made the most of everything. He keeps you enthralled when he has to leave his close family and go off to war. A young man who had never left his home now having to fight for his life. How he manages to cheat death and survive the war to return home. This book is written with honesty and warmth and is an easy read.

A heartwarming account of an ordinary person living through extra-ordinary times. The hardship of his young life within a close and loving family and the horrors of war are written about with warmth and wit. It was a pleasure to read this book.
