The Ministry of Sound has built a trusted brand and this triple album maintains their standards. Old Skool Garage has experienced something of a resurgence in popularity in the early 2010s as the people that loved it in their teens are of an age where they are marrying and/or having big birthday parties!
It is not clear whether it was always intended to issue two volumes of this series or whether the second volume has come from a realisation that there were some serious omissions from the first triple album. Sweet Female Attitude's 'Flowers' would be on most people's list of 'biggest' garage tracks and there are a number of other tracks that enjoyed commercial (top 40) success.
For anyone who wishes to build a quick collection of over 130 well known and lesser known Old Skool Garage tracks this volume and the one before it offer a really good selection. Each album is professionally mixed making them perfect for use at parties.but tracks are individually indexed and can be selected individually.
There are a number of UK Garage compilation albums available with a lot of duplication of tracks. In my view, the Ministry of Sound
with the addition of volume two offers the best selection. The albums are well produced and presented in an attractive triple gate fold sleeve with a brief potted history of the genre.
