Format:Audio CD
Not sure what the only other person who's reviewed this is going on about. Not sure he does either. Pretty incoherent foundation for a damming and unreasonable 1 star.
The Back to Mine series in general I'm all in favour of. They help you discover old, often very good, sometimes surprisingly important but understated artists, via a reliable channel of your own musical tastes.
Guillemot's compilation is pretty sprawling; it's obvious that the members all have diverse music tastes (an interesting fact in itself). This volume will take you from the South London Hip-hop of Roots Manuva, via admittedly rather challenging African sounds of Tartit, to Cartola, who's Brazilian.
I think it's in the nature of these CDs that there's some tracks you won't be keen on, but I think it's all part of finding out what music you like that you didn't know you liked, which is what Back to Mine is about.
Add to this some deft mixing, some bold choices (Sonic Youth's 'Providence') and some sensitive sleevenotes from the band members, and you have a mixtape that one of your friends could have made for you. And that's what it feels like.

A great mix, a really cool collection of musical genres-something for everyone! Stand outs tracks for me come from Bjork, The Supremes and Roots Manuva which should give you a heads up on what to expect!
