This book is a lighthearted wander through Billy's early years, noting influences such as The Faces and The Clash, through his Riff Raff days, the early gigs and performances (anyone remeber the "portastack"?), up to his first and second albums. Dodgy early pictures and singles covers abound! Well worth a look for any Billy Bragg fan, it includes guitar chords and lyrics for the first two albums and the "Between The Wars" EP.

As a Billy Bragg fan, and someone who has been struggling to learn the guitar, I though it would be useful to learn some of my favourite tunes, and this proved to be a good source. This offers more than that- as well as the tabs, chords and sheet music, along with the lyrics for some of Billy's greatest works, there are glimpses of other aspects of the mid-80's. It is well put together, and while it has aged a bit (an ad on the last page to join the Labour Party, with Neil Kinnock probably contributes to this) it is useful as not only a musical source but as a historical snapshot of radical 80's politics when Thatcher was in power.
