3.0 out of 5 stars A trip down memory lane 22 Mar 2009
By Skippy
A block of 'back to back' houses have been saved and renovated by the National Trust, right in the heart of Birmingham city centre. My parents and grandparents lived in very similar housing nearby, so for me it was like going back in time to see how they might have lived. The book has some lovely photographs of the era and descriptions of who the residents of these houses were at different times. I would have liked to see more photographs of a similar ilk and would have been prepared to pay more money for the book. Even so, well worth buying if you have any interest in 'back to back' housing, particularly in the Birmingham area, and the trip to the houses in question is well worth a visit :-)

Brilliant little book, covering all generations living in the Back to Backs. The Oldfield family especially as one on my relatives married Clara Oldfield.

My Dad loved this. Have bought many books about Birmingham in the past, providing many happy hours of reading. This is more pics of course than text but Dad still enjoyed it.

A good booklet showing the preservation project where my ancestors lived in the late 1800's.
