I was very pleased to discover this album of the Sonatas and Partitas. Busch takes a very measured and lithe approach, and at times even contrasts slower and quicker moments
with some deliberation (and brilliant virtuosity even so). Everything flows very articulately, and she has impeccable tone. If not the chance-taking of Ibragimova, or Faust's imposing phrasing and 'gravitas' among recent fine recordings too, Busch has fine, distinctive clarity, sense of purpose and poetry in her phrasing and approach. There're many fine recordings of these magnificent works: hers is one of the best I've heard.
