I heard Alessio Bax version of Air from the Orchestral Suite No.3 in D major on Classic FM and fell in love with it. I had to get the album and it didn't disappoint. Fantastic listening.

Transfigured Bach! 18 April 2010
By Richard - Published on Amazon.com

This recording is a revelation. The voicing is amazing and from time to time it sounds as if there are two pianos playing. Alessio Bax is a magnificent young pianist and we are fortunate to be able to watch his development. Expect great things from him. His playing makes one hope that he might embark upon a project to encompass all of Bach's keyboard music. It is interesting that most of these transcriptions here have been done by romantic composers of the 19th and 20th centuries, thus creating a virtual straddle between the classical and the romantic periods -- and Bax is clearly a pianist with both traditions in his technique, psyche and soul!

Extraordinary - Bach born again! 9 Jan 2012
By Luis Catan - Published on Amazon.com

I heard an interview of Alessio Bax in American Public Media and when he played a few pieces by Bach, Brahms and Rachmaninoff I was absolutely amazed at his lyricism, phrasing and depth of feeling in each note. I ended up buying/downloading both his albums, Bach and Rachmaninoff and both are absolute gems. I have interpretations of these composers by various piano icons, but Alessio's interpretations stand head & shoulders above them! His playing is hypnotic, almost mystical. He makes much more use of piano-forte and the pedal, giving Bach a wonderful lyricism that I had never heard before. If you like what Mitsuko Uchida has done for Mozart at the piano, you will be at least just as elated with this recording, if not more. Just listen to some samples and you'll see/hear what I mean........

Bach and Bax - astonishing artistry. 14 Nov 2012

I completely concur with other reviewers about this CD. It is glorious. Bax is, sadly, one of those "under the radar" performers (at least in the US) which is really unfortunate because he is so darn good! If you enjoy this album of Bach transcriptions, please acquire his debut CD on Warner Classics "Baroque Reflections" Baroque Reflections for Piano. Both CDs are highly recommended. I certainly hope the Signum Classics treats Bax better than Warner Classics did - and Onxy treats Johnathan Biss better than EMI did!Beethoven: Piano Sonatas Vol.1; Sonatas Nos. 5, 11, 12, & 26. In any event, these are two artists I never tire of hearing. Enjoy pianism of the highest order!
A little piece of heaven 19 April 2012

I absolutely LOVE this album. I can't stop listening to the beautiful sounds. I'm not a musician but I'm mesmerized by the enchanting arrangements of these Bach pieces. I'm ordering this a second time as a gift for a friend. It's that good.
