I got this record probably a year and a half ago, and it is best to say that the record reached an immortality status for me. Richter's skills in organ exposes one of the best pertinent Bach experiences ever. It reminds us that Bach was primarily an organist, for which his heart and his wits flourished his music. Whenever I listen this collection of records (with very good headphones as well), I understand why these works are the most favourable amongst Bach's other organ works.

The majestic interpretations of G minor Grosse Fantasy and Fugue, and Organ Concerto in A minor (the one without tempo indication) are particularly the ones still make my body hairs blown. The pieces are recorded in some of Europe's finest churches and the sound quality is unquestionable; reflects a very fantastic church/temple atmosphere wherein the organ cries out its splendour through Bach's music, in every piece.

It is more than a fine start for would-be Bach listeners, and an ever-enlarging experience for proficient Bach listeners. The price is fair and that makes this record a total catch.

Not everyone's cup of tea, organ music.
Some just can't stand it even if they like other genres of classical music.
I do like it, and this compilation is well performed and well recorded.
Recommended and stirring music.

I won't pretend to be a classical expert, but I have listened to Toccata and Fugue many times, on many CDs and records, and this CD just doesn't quite cut it. it sounds a little like it has been turnded into a computer game - theres just a shinyness and fakeness about it. it's a shame, as I adore organ music and was really looking forward to listening to this CD.
