I have a library of over 250 classical music CDs and this one would be right up there in the top 5. The music is quite sensational (try track 3 which I would happily listen to on my death bed).

The singing is of the highest class and the sound is demonstration quality. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

I've been buying a lot of classical music recently, a.o. many different versions of Bach's cantatas (the full Gardiner collection, Philippe Herreweghe, Thomanerchor Leipzig, Cantus Cölln and others). I must say that these versions by Philippe Pierlot's Ricercar Consort are the ones that I prefer (and it's a pure matter of taste, it's emotional, I'm unable to provide any kind of serious 'musicologocial' comment ;-).

This is a small ensemble and not a full choir (so it doesn't make sense to compare it to other versions like Gardiner). The mood of these cantatas is confined, intimate, warm, sensitive (thanks to beautiful voices)... should I say... a nearly 'spiritual journey'?

I appreciate what the Ricercar Consort does generally and especially the Bach recordings. I hope there will be more !
