The playing of Bach's Keyboard Concertos by Gavrilov and the ASM under Sir Neville Marriner can be challenged only by the renditions of a Glenn Gould. The original release of 1987 offers superb presence and a broad-spectrum of sound. The 2007 remastered release is just a mere shadow of the original. The sumptuous feeling of being present at a great event is gone. We are facing a sterile package of concertos here.
A personal message to producers and sound engineers of any label: Please do not 'improve' with your hundreds of MHz and imposing HyperPower SuperBit technology the brilliant recordings of the 1980s. They were and still are perfect sound recordings made by extremely capable teams. Thank you!
