5.0 out of 5 stars Great music to heart 7 Oct 2007

How beautiful the music I enjoy from this disc. Althought I ever heared other version, ex Gardiner, or Koopmann's, but Suzuki gave me the full peaceful voices to my inner heart.
I must say that as a foreigner, Suzuki performed well above the limitation in the different culture and countries. It prove that good music is borderless
3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful sound, empty interpretation 17 May 2013

I read many rave reviews about this recording. The performances certainly are professional and beautiful, but I found them too objective sounding for these personal and passionate cantatas of Bach. I admire the performers and believe they are just on the "correct modern trend" of letting the music speak for itself, but there is more to this music. For instance, they just speed happily along through the gut-wrenching harmonies of the chorale "Es ist Genug" as if nothing out of the ordinary is happening.
