This is an excellent record that I have owned for years and regularly return to ... and always with great pleasure. Suzuki's Bach cantata series really is in a class of its own and this is a good example of it (not that I have yet found a bad example). The cantatas here are never less than interesting and are frequently far more than merely interesting. The singing and playing is first rate. Suzuki's Bach, for those yet to discover it, is light and lively but never exaggerated or driven. It always manages to sound appropriate and very musical. His (period) orchestra is first rate and his interpretations are full of heart as well as life. He seems to get everything right including the rarer things like communicating his love for the music and an ability to deliver inspired accounts of the works.
