Il Giardino Armonico is rightfully already recognised as one of the leading ensembles of performing and enterpreting the music of the baroque era. And their performances of Bach's Brandenburger Concertos is more than up to par.
It is such an interesting paradox that Il Giardino Armonico, who belong to those who firmly believe that this music should be played on the original instruments used by the time the music was composed - in other words on the same instruments there was present at the time Bach, and all the other great baroque composers, was alive - that this music seems more vibrant, relevant, lively and powerful than ever. Moreover the production is also very natural with a wonderful sound.
How many boring, smooth and insignificant recordings of these particular concerts haven't already been issued and it is just such a relief that in our present time we can witness such dedication and stunning musicianship. Highly recommended for those who really value this great timeless music.
