5.0 out of 5 stars a good book 12 Feb 2010
By Alicja
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought the book based on some good reviews and Im not dissapointed. It is rather thin, but reads well, have quite a few interesting ideas and explains the use of particular toys. I thought I wouldn't be bothered with all these expensive mirror toys, crinky books etc, but having read about how they stimulate a child Im going to buy a few and give it a try.The book also explains what a child is capable of doing each month of their life, which for me as a first time mum, was not so obvious.Glad I bought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Baby's First Skills by Miriam Stoppard 2 Sep 2009
By Jemalo
Format:Paperback
I bought this book for my daughter, who has just had her first baby. I enjoyed reading it before giving it to her and was facinated with its contents.
My daughter was thrilled with the book and began activities suggested the next day! My little grand daughter is loving it.
The book deals with the first year of life. The contents is clearly written with attractive illustrations and discusses a baby's milestones, all be it small to begin with. It suggests short and fun activities to stimulate your baby in a variety aspects of development. There are also details of how these activities can be expanded as your baby grows.
If you are a first time Mum, or a doting Gran, you will not regret buying this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book 23 July 2009
By LGG
Format:Paperback
This is a great book with loads of info about how your baby develops and plenty of ideas on what will appeal to them during each month. I didn't follow the golden hour concept but used the suggested games in play times throughout the day. Definitely good value for money.

This book is a good idea, very badly executed. The design is very impractical, which is unusual for Dorling Kindersley. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for ideas
Good for ideas and information but the suggested games and activities aren't in age order so navigating around the book is a bit annoying.
