This was my least favourite of the B5 Books (this is Book #4). The Author is clearly attempting to pose a moral dilema to base the book upon (involving a new alien race) but the book falls down by its hard to swallow concepts. These include the nature of the alien race (Whose lives are in fact a "song") and the main plot in general - the moral dilema posed by the book. In the end the moral dilema seemed a moot point to myself.

Reading the book to the end felt like a chore. Which is not something that a Babylon 5 fan should be saying about a B5 Book.

In my opinion this is the poorest B5 Novel, I'd not recommend it unless you are a major B5 Fan.

This is not a bad book, the story taking place during Sheridan's time in command, before the split with Earth, although the events in the book do not take forward the overall B5 plot. If you can ignore some innacuracies in the B5 timeline, particularly with regard to dates, and a mysterious change of name of both the Prometheus and her Captain, then it is an enjoyable read.

Clarke's Law 19 Mar 2005
Format:Paperback
This is by far my favourite of the several B5 books I've read. It departs somewhat from canon, especially in the portrayal of G'Kar's dark past, and it might be better to read it simply as an SF story and not as a B5 story - but it is extremely well-written and creepy and original.
