Biography

Bob Marley was a hero figure, in the classic mythological sense. His departure from this planet came at a point when his vision of One World, One Love -- inspired by his belief in Rastafari -- was beginning to be heard and felt. The last Bob Marley and the Wailers tour in 1980 attracted the largest audiences at that time for any musical act in Europe.

Product Description

Amazon.co.uk

Bob Marley's second live album, Babylon By Bus, from 1978, had to be pretty damned good to match the incandescence of 1975's Live!. But with glorious performances on songs like "Punky Reggae Party", "Is This Love?" and "Jamming", they came close to equalling it. Maybe there wasn't quite the same amount of inspiration, but the Wailers had matured into a tight unit with Marley the charismatic leader, as this set shows well. And with Marley still at the height of his writing powers, there wasn't a dud song in the bunch. Not so much bus travel as limousine listening. This specially remastered edition makes the glory of the original release even clearer. --Chris Nickson

5.0 out of 5 stars Positive Vibrant Stunning 29 Sep 2001
Format:Audio CD
From the opening "Greetins in the name of"..lead into Positive Vibration through to infectious Jammin', this CD makes up for all those who never got the chance to see him live. Longer than the earlier "Live " this takes in the Clash inspired "Punky Reggae Party" to the challenge to Lively Up Yourself. I defy anyone to listen to this and resist the urge to dance along. Or at least smile. The world was a darker place after he died but his legacy will always live on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nearly missed the Bus 3 July 2009
Format:Audio CD
Although a long time fan of Bob Marley and The Wailers I had never heard this set until today. I had always thought that "Live" at The Lyceum was the defining live Bob; that may well be true of his Natty Dread period, but this is a superb band in full flow. I don`t think Aston and Carlton have ever been tighter, the sound just bounces along. The lead guitar work by Junior Murvin is excellent and although Bob does sound a little tired on a couple of songs on the rest he is on fine form.
Well worth the low price, just don`t miss the Bus.

One of the greatest Reggae musicians. This brought back so many amazing memories from a time when Bob Marley was the most well known of Black Musicians.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even compared to the 'Lyceum' Album this is amazing
I realise that the Live at the Lyceum album is the pinnacle for many, perhaps even myself. The range of songs available here, though, must be enough to swing you in its favour. Read more
