I read this, twice, before my little one came and now she's here I have it close by always. It's very comprehensive - for example it explained some of the medical interventions that are common for new borns, which I found very helpful preparation for when ours needed to go into hospital.

It has some, in my opinion, outdated views though - e.g. on Cloth nappies for example, but it does lay out options for responding and caring for your baby in a non judgmental way and provides all pros and cons for all approaches. The focus is on responding to your unique babys cues and needs, which are presented clearly through helpful pictures and descriptions. Just get it if, like us, you know nothing about babies and need non faddy practical advice.

I just wanted a straightforward, preferably British, book with all the basics and without an agenda to help us get to grips with having our first child as we knew nothing! It was surprisingly difficult to find a book that met all those criteria, but this is it. Things like parenting styles and whether or not to breastfeed are covered from multiple perspectives with a "see what works for you" approach. My mother (who had two kids) has been reading it and says even she's learnt things to prepare her from grand-parenthood.

Such a good book to have for your first baby. I live quite far away from my family and my friends who have children, so this book has been very handy when we were wondering about something. It has a good overview at the back that makes easy to look up different topics/questions you might have. Nice pictures. It goes through everything you need to know.

My daughter followed her favourite pregnancy bible with this Babycare Bible and has found it a godsend. Any little queries or big concerns are answered in a very straightforward way. It has given confidence and peace of mind. Very well worth buying.

Great gift especially for 1st time mums. Good references from birth to toddler. Plenty of ideas to try or discard if they do not suit you and your little one. This book seems to give lots of advice ,but does not patronise parents.

Ok for day to day parenting but not for any problems. Very briefly touches on most but no real details. My baby had bad reflux which is briefly mentioned but no help. Often find myself turning to google still
