BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Miracle

BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Miracle is the perfect choice for you and your little miracle when you want to carry your child in superior comfort in a variety of ways, for even longer periods of time. The entirely new and adjustable design, with an ergonomic waist belt and back support, allows the baby carrier to be adapted to your needs as your baby develops.

Furthermore, the BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Miracle allows you to grow with your child – from the moment your baby comes into the world as a delicate newborn (minimum 3,5kg or 8lbs) to when he or she is a around 15 months (on average a 12kg or 26lbs baby is somewhere between 15 to 18 months). By this time, many children are walking. The design, which includes the ergonomic waist belt, means that it can comfortably carry a 12kg or 26lbs baby for long periods of time with their back supported.

BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Miracle used facing you
The BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Miracle can be used from birth, facing you to provide essential closeness between parent and newborn.
BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Miracle used forward-facing
Once your baby’s neck is strong enough to support their own head, the BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Miracle can be used forward-facing.
BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Miracle adjustable straps
BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Miracle has wide padded straps for extra comfort.
Adjustable design and ergonomic waist belt provides superior comfort

The entirely new and adjustable design, generously padded waist belt, comfortable back support and wide shoulder straps allow flexible carrying in a variety of ways. Easy adjustments made from the front transfer baby’s weight between your waist, hips and shoulders and relieve pressure points as needed.

BabyBjorn recommend that you carry your newborn high up on your chest and your older child lower down, taking the baby’s weight from your shoulders and on to your waist. When the baby is approximately four to five months old and when the neck is strong enough to support the head, you can switch between carrying your child facing you or facing forwards. The new and adjustable design with the ergonomic waist belt allows you to comfortably carry a 12kg or 26lbs baby for long periods of time.

Fits baby perfectly from day one – all the way to approximately 15 months

BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Miracle is designed to fit your newborn from day one (minimum 3,5kg or 8bls) all the way to approximately 15 months (maximum 12kg or 26lbs) without the need for an extra insert. We recommend carrying your newborn close to your heart - high up on your chest and facing you – providing essential closeness while at the same time allowing supervision of your baby’s breathing.

The Best of Both Worlds

Once your child’s neck is strong enough to support their head and he or she is ready to meet the world, you can carry your child facing forward – in secure contact with you all the time. Meeting an exciting world with their back resting safely against Mum or Dad’s chest is a great source of delight for most little ones. Quite simply the best of both worlds!

Age: From newborn (at least 8 lbs/3.5 kg) up to 26 lbs/12 kg.

Safety: BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Miracle meets the safety requirements of EN 13209-2:2005. Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Babybjorn carriers have improved beyond all recognition over the last 10 years. The early versions were difficult to put on, the poppers flew open and you'd always wake your baby up transferring them to a pram. I never felt 'safe' wearing one outdoors and they were uncomfortable to use giving me chronic back/shoulder ache when worn as a last result to soothe a crying baby at the same time as tasks like making dinner.

I've used a miracle carrier for the last 6 months (I'm a childminder) in the black/grey liner colourway. I think this colourway is more practical with the brown hiding baby drool - often I end up with a wet tide mark with baby facing outwards dribbling on the pale carrier rim, even with a bib. I would advise the black or brown colourway ones as the best option.

I can wear the carrier almost continually all day with babies up until about 7 months (I am a weakling) and with older babies up to about a year I can wear it comfortably for about 15-20 mins. Ideal for having your hands free to catch older children on park climbing frames. I usually take a miracle carrier around with me now just in case one of the 3 under 5s I mind falls over/ gets tired as I'm able to push two little ones in a double buggy while wearing a carrier at the same time.

The optional fabric raincover you can buy is great in drizzle (not rain as it doesn't fit babies heads properly) for babies up to about 6 months. After that you'll really just be fine with your baby wearing a coat as you can only use the raincover with the baby facing inwards and after that stage they'd rather face outwards. If you don't you'll end up with pulled hair and a scratched chest or pulled chest hair and a scratched head. Pain is involved anyway.

I would say a baby carrier is an essential purchase if you have more than one young child allowing you to have both hands free so you can make the most of parks and tumble tots etc.

If you are considering this for a first child then the ability to soothe a fractious baby to sleep, dash out quickly without having to take a pushchair and having your hands free for 15 mins to eat your dinner or do most other tasks you can think of! is invaluable.

Cons I've found:

You can't see your feet which can make going up and down steps/stairs difficult especially if you are holding hands with two other small children at the same time. I wouldn't ever advise doing this without at least one hand free. You will end up throwing yourself backwards on your derriere so not to squash the baby going forwards.

Tide marks/ dribble don't look attractive, are far from hygienic on your baby carrier and may mean it's in the wash lots - I've found the best way to deal with this is for your baby to wear a large bib flopped over the front rather than using the babybjorn one.

If you have a bust, which is not uncommon with a new mum who will have the largest bust of her lifetime the closure slots are hidden underneath your armpits somewhere. It's not quite as easy to put on as the instructional video showing a man implies. However it is easy. If I'm putting the carrier on over a hard surface then I usually ask for the assistance of a third person, or kneel down low as there's a very slight possibility of dropping a heavy, wriggly baby while trying to locate the side slots.

I am now over the moon to have a second carrier so I always have one while the other is in the wash - the outer carry cover washes well.

The organic cotton credentials of this carrier are welcome. I'm not sure how much added comfort a fully clothed infant will appreciate but it's a great interior. There is a quite prominent 'organic' visible label which will be on display near your (hmmm can't think of a word the amazon filters will allow) area but you can always chop it off if you don't want to advertise your organic credentials in what would be your nappy area. Washable nappies with liners are great btw - I've become a recent convert and appreciate all things organic and fairtrade.

The end. I'm waffling.

Fantastic 14 Feb 2012
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I was suprised at the size of the box when it arrived, about the same as a box file. I also wondered how something so light was going to be strong enough to hold a baby!

When they are smaller you keep them facing inwards towards you, the straps keep them close to you which is comforting for the baby and also does not mean that your centre of gravity shifts too much. There are enough straps on this to make you feel secure, and they are thick and well padded, and wide too to ease the load on your shoulders and back. There is decent support for the baby's head too. There are leg straps for when the baby is tiny to ensure their legs are secure.

Once the baby is a little older (around 4 months) you can turn him or her around so they can see a little more of the world! The whole carrier is adjustable to keep up with the growth of your baby. It does seem like a lot of money but once you're finished with it, pack it away for next time or pass on to a friend.

All in all this carrier is fantastic, not just for parents who have more than one child, would also recommend even if you only have the one!

Another great BB option 16 April 2012

Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
We also have a Babybjorn Synergy which is so close to the Miracle that I've reproduced my earlier review for that version below. The main differences are in the finish and in the approach to waist and lower-back support. The Synergy is supposed to have the better solution for lower back support but I found the miracle even more comfortable because it's much easier to vary where you allow the carrier's pressure points to be located. I've got a bit of a belly on me, for reference!

This is taken from my review of the Synergy in Mesh finish, it is all applicable to the Miracle.
My eldest was born twenty years ago when carriers were the impossibly-expensive preserve of the well-healed middle-classes. As a result I developed a slightly unhealthy resentment of the whole idea. Our new baby arrived a month or so ago and I thought it was time to challenge my prejudice...

Agonised over choosing the right carrier but the BabyBjorn name came up again and again as well-fitted, adjustable, durable and safe. On their website they have an excellent tool that will help you to choose the right baby carrier for your needs which helped me then narrow-down the choice.

So glad I did, I adore carrying Arthur in it - he loves the close contact, it rarely fails to calm him down when he's agitated and you really do have two hands free. I genuinely feel it has offered me, as a Dad, a bit of closer contact with my baby and for that it's worth gold.

One bit of advice: the instructions are rubbish. It takes a lot to understand at first and the initial process of adjustment is agonisingly frustrating. Once you've gone through the fitting and learnt how to get your baby into the carrier, it's plain sailing - seriously, you can do it in the dark, one-handed and still be easy and safe.

Hugely impressed.
