4.0 out of 5 stars A good solid gate but tricky to assemble 4 Nov 2009
Colour Name:Metal
once it is built this gives a good sturdy gate. It can span na variety of gap sizes. Unlike some gates it opens out fully so it does not overly restrict maviong things thorugh the gate.

However, it is really tricky to assemble. I'm confident with flatpack and usually very good at assembling them. However, this has many parts a lot of which look similar but which can only go in one way. So if you're not good at flat pack assembly don't buy this. Also if you are installing this over an area with skirting boards you will need to insert some kind of baton at the top edge to bring it out to the same distance as the bottom- obvioulsy this does not apply if used it a doorway but may well apply if you are using it in a stair.

This is definitely one to install and leave in place, if you are looking for something you can move about don't try this.

However, once it is in place it is a good gate. the kids haven't woprked out how to open it yet so it does the job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the tin. 23 Sep 2010
Colour Name:Metal
Good product, looks well manufactured and durable.
As the hinges are a bit flexible and adjustable, I have been able to install it with a banister on one side and a wall with a skirting board on the other side.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay, very hard to put together 27 Dec 2009
Colour Name:Wood
Good product safe now its together, but it took half a day to do it. Quality is average, colours are good better than the metal white gates, best feature is the is no risk of tripping over the bottom like on most gates so its great for top of stairs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lifesaver... 18 May 2009
Colour Name:Metal
This has been a excellent buy. Being in an old terrace with an unusual, dangerous stairway, as this gate is flexible I have been able to fit it at an angle and my son can now wonder around the upstairs without me worrying. Priceless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hang on a Minute....... 3 Jun 2012
Colour Name:Wood
I feel compelled to put finger to keyboard about this product. I have just bought two of these gates and installed them yesterday. Here are a few thoughts

Yes. The gate is complicated. Yes the instructions are on a different page from the diagrams, which is a bit annoying. I sat down for half an hour set out all the pieces and marked which letter corresponded to each piece. I then Put the two frame parts together so that I had a gate. I then decided which side of the gap I wanted the hinge side and the lock side to go on. This all took about 30 minutes of faffing around - mainly because I changed my mind as to which face of the bannister I would use. I then drilled 8 holed and screwed in 8 screws. Tightened everything up and that was it. I installed the second one in 15 minutes from box to fully installed.

Once up the gate is brilliant. Totally secure. Easy to open (for grown ups). Solid construction.

I do not consider myself a DIY person but (with a bit of thinking and planning) this is no more complicate to put up than a shelf.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wide opening, one handed use 26 July 2011
By Flavia
Colour Name:Metal
I've got to admit that when only one reviewer so far said it was complicated, I thought it would be a breeze to put up, but actually I found it pretty tricky! Also once fitted to plasterboard it did fall down after a few weeks use, because it puts a lot of strain on the wall, but we fitted some 2x1 wood and now it's really solid.

I'm still really pleased that we chose this gate as when open it allows the whole width of the staircase to be open, and there is no bar underfoot to trip on.

1.0 out of 5 stars Over 4 hours to fit 9 Mar 2011
Colour Name:Wood
I bought 3 and had to send 2 back. It took my Father (who is very good at DIY) over 4 hours to assemble this and fit it. I have a 73cm gap, which the gate should fit and my Dad had to make modifications to get it to work.

Now it is up, I am really pleased with it - but sent the other 2 back to get something easier to fit - seriously not worth the pain!

1.0 out of 5 stars Babydan safety gate 3 Dec 2009
By Faye
Colour Name:Wood
The gate is smart and nice, it is very safe so safe that you need two hands to open or close it.
it was difficult to assemble, opening and closing is a major difficulty even my husband found it cumbersome.
I will not buy another one and am thinking of replacing it.
