Bought this chair instead of the Stokke alternative, which runs about twice as expensive. Couldn't be happier. Took about 45 minutes to put this together. The threads in one of the nuts weren't quite right -- couldn't get a bolt to attach correctly (stiff action) -- but I contacted the manufacturer and they posted a new one to me; I received it within two days and it worked great. (I'm very happy with such prompt service, no questions asked.)

The chair itself looks great and is extremely sturdy. The assembly instructions were very clear. The front guard can be left on or off and the chair looks good either way. Same with the straps. My two-year old daughter is able to clamber up and down the chair with no problem. It's made eating at the table so much easier than the previous booster seat, and the plastic high chair she had to be lifted into before that. Very recommended.

I should start by saying I am a BabyDan fan - stairgates, travel cots, lamb fleece stroller liners - fab. However, we are really disappointed in this product for reasons mentioned by a few other reviewers.

Firstly - if you are considering a highchair like this where your baby sits up to the table then you should check whether there is something under your table that your baby can launch themselves backwards from (like the side of the table, for example). We have to push the baby away from the table, which given now he is starting to feed himself means it's rather tricky for him to reach the food on the table.

Secondly, even pushed away from the table the baby has worked out with enough gusto he can rock himself back on this chair and we can not leave him alone in the chair incase it should topple over. Our brother and sister-in-law also had this problem but at the time we thought it must be our over excited little tike nephew - not so as we've learnt ourselves.

Incidentally we were recently on holiday and the hotel had scores of Chicco highchairs with play tray attached. We thought the Chicco version wouldn't look so great in our home when we first chose the BabyDan Dan Chair, however, he was unable to rock at all in this chair (and we had 3 meals a day in this hotel for 5 nights) and having a fully wipeable chair (seat and tray) made eating with him on holiday a pleasure, not a trial -not just because someone else got to clean up.

In summary, we are considering selling the Dan Chair and buying a Chicco one, for safety, rather than aesthetics. If you do buy one, also think about the insert - it gets grubby in an instant, harbouring all the bits of crumb, banana, rice cake and basically anything your baby drops, and it is not easy to clean - comes up okay in the wash but spends so much time in the wash he's actually fine without it. Hope this helps someone considering this chair for their little one.

Have been using my new black babydan high chair for about a week now and i love it!

Chair was delivered quickly and in perfect condition, my partner and I assembled it in approx 20 mins, the instructions were easy to follow but we made sure we read them properly as there were some bad reviews about assembely. Extra screws were provided in case of cross threading (which didnt happen to us but could do if your not careful to put the cams on the same way you take them off, and stop if hard to get in do not force them) Also it says do not tigthen until finished which could be the reason some found it hard to get some bits on!

Once finished the chair looks fantastic, is great quality and very sturdy. Footprint is great size(in our small kitchen) and it looks great with our table. We put our seven month old daughter in it the next morning and she absolutly loves it. Didnt buy the cushion set as thought i'd see if it was needed first and I dont think I will as she needs the harness on and reviews say cant use both together. Only down side is if she throws her head back she hits it on the wood so had a few tears but she has only done it once so think she learnt quickly¬

Only concern before ordering was our table is quite high and has double layered glass but the chair fits very well, with her at a perfect height to use table. We have ours against a wall so no chance of her pushing back away from table.

Very easy to clean so far but the real challenge comes when she starts feeding herself!

Overall very happy with this product would definatly recommend. We are very tempted to get one for our first child who is now 4 as our chairs are low and he struggles to sit to the table properly.

We've had 2 of these for around 6 years and have been happy with them. We got them once the kids were toddlers - we preferred regular highchairs when they were babies, with clip-off trays. We're moving to normal chairs now but we really liked the babydan. It is possible for kids to rock them but they never managed to tip them over. Sturdy and easy to clean.

We purchased this chair for our daughter having liked the look and functionality of it. We researched a lot and chose the Baby Dan as it had longer base legs than the Trip Trapp (nicknamed "Death Trap") after seeing videos of children launching back from the table. Our twenty month old daughter has just done this on the Baby Dan. Luckily, she hit a pram rather than falling backwards straight on to the hard wood floor which would have been a lot more serious situation than the bloody cut we are dealing with now. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT - ours is going in the bin tonight and I will be writing to the company and all stockists accordingly.
