5.0 out of 5 stars Practical and helpful 18 Jun 2010
Format:Paperback
I found this book in the library and loved it from the start! Elizabeth Martyn deals with all the issues that might come up when thinking about a family or already having one: Frome the planning stage ("Shall we? Shan't we?")to birth and beyond. The book is very easy to read (a must after a baby, you just don't have the time for something complicated!) and is filled with practical ideas on how to manage with all these emotions and the challenges for your relationship. It also includes the fathers, shows their side of the coin and gives advice on how to manage work and parenthood.

Moreover, it gives you the feeling that you're normal which is wonderful. A great book if you're feeling that you're lost in this whole parent thing, are afraid of your relationship or think you'll never have a life again (oh yes, you will!). Highly recommended.

Quite a common sense approach and does get you thinking and if you're a new mum validates all those irrational thoughts that come along with being a new parent, easy read so hoping husband finds it helpful also.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to read 15 Mar 2013

This book was recommended to me by a friend when my son was 6 months old. I wish i had read it when i was pregnant. It is easy to read with quick snap shot chapters that give insight into a range of subjects. This is great when you are busy with a new born or toddler!!

Personally it helped me to overcome some anxieties i had in the 1st year of being a mother.

I have bought this book for 2 of my friends as a gift when pregnant
