Baby And The Satellite,
By
This review is from: The Baby and the Satellite (Audio CD)
If you like Micah P Hinson then i don't see how you can not like this album. It isn't (and wasn't intended to be) a follow up to Gospel Of Progress, and as a collection of old songs inevitably sounds thinner and therefore more raw and less cinematic than either of his two full length albums, but this doesn't make it a bad record in it's own right. If anything it's a chance to hear his sound emerging, and there are some lovely songs on here.
If you don't have a Hinson record, then buy either (i'd suggest both) of the other two. Then when you've listened to them constantly for weeks and are hooked, come back and buy this. You won't be disappointed.

This is an excellent record, truly amazing and absolutely on a par with Gospel and Opera Circuit. Buy It! Forget what this guy below says....The Leading Guy is Micah's best song!

A record company idea gone wrong.,

Hinson's debut 'The gospel of progress' was stunning. Great singing - an almost perfect vocal delivery sounding like someone 20 years his senior. The songs were pretty damn good too. This follow up looses the momentum and at best sounds like a mini album of b-sides. Hinson's voice is tired here - he almost sounds bored - running through songs that he wrote years ago. A record company idea gone wrong. It spoils the anticipation of a follow up, so I feel this is an attempt to cash in on the success of 'Gospel.
On a positive note - the inclusion of the original demos in full is a nice touch.
