This book is clearly laid out in sections covering all aspects of baby massage, from babies through to toddlers. There are also specific sections on massage in order to soothe colic and to help a baby to sleep. There are clear and detailed instructions for each massage technique as well as photographs to illustrate them. As a new mother I was interested in alternative ways to help a baby settle and relax and this book has provided an excellent resource that will prove very useful in the future. Even if the techniques are not all successful for all babies it is a very reassuring book and has enabled me to feel that there are other ways to help your baby. A must for desperate Mums!!

Massage is one of the greatest gifts a parent can give to their baby, right from day one. It can be a quick two minute rub while changing a nappy or it can be a long relaxing session, as long as baby & parent are enjoying their time together. This book will give you the essential information in a quick & easy format with fast find topic index on each page. No need for long time consuming reads in advance, just select the type of massage you would like to deliver from the index & follow the steps & pictures.
I recommend this book for both Mums & Dads, new or experienced. Then results & rewards will be evident straight away in a relaxed content & happy baby.

This is a pleasant simple glimpse into baby massage; it is fully illustrated with lovely colour photos of parents massaging delightful children. I am sure many parents will find it helpful but I am saddened to find no mention of asking the child's permission to begin the massage. There is no feeling of the baby having any choice as to the pace or timing of the massage...words like 'move directly on to step 2', rather grate as we (in the International Association of Infant Massage) are more used to being guided by the baby's cues before we move to another body area. The section on premature babies I find worrying, as the strokes and the time recommended are not appropriate in my experience. (Cherry Bond RSCN RGN Neonatal Massage Specialist).

What a lovely book with some fantastic pictures. Used this book in baby massage instruction classes, very useful.
