“I would highly recommend baby-led weaning having weaned my own children using this method. As a GP I often see the result of poor diet and lifestyle, so seeing a baby develop a healthy relationship with food from the offset using the baby-led weaning method is something I feel should be promoted. The advantages I have experienced with my own children include relaxed family mealtimes and a real enjoyment of food. They also make very healthy food choices without me having to ‘badger’ them! Eating together is a real pleasure. I attended Julie’s Happy Little Eaters course and found the information invaluable. I would recommend this excellent step-by-step guide to any parent or health care worker.”

“Julie’s book is a welcome and invaluable guide for any parent or health care professional wanting to know exactly what Baby-Led Weaning entails, coupled with excellent nutritional advice for the whole family.
Baby-Led Weaning, is not a new concept. I have been recommending this method for a number of years and continue to be amazed at how skilled babies are at eating, making choices and regulating their appetites.
For many years, the guidance, unfortunately, was to wean early – and as babies were not developmentally ready to feed themselves, spoon feeding and purées were introduced. Following extensive research which showed that babies’ nutritional needs were best met by an exclusive milk diet until 6 months of age (which coincides with most babies learning to sit, reach out and chew) the guidelines were changed in 2003.”

5.0 out of 5 stars very helpful for a nervous mum 12 Oct. 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I went for baby lead not by choice but because my son panicked with purées. Being extremely worried about choking I bought this book to make sure I did baby lead weaning correctly. The book is easy to follow with great recipes. It completely put my mind at lease and I've enjoyed the experience.

I was lucky enough to attend Julie's course with my second child and it was invaluable. I had weaned my first born using puree but found baby led weaning so much easier for all involved. As a personal trainer I understand the importance of good nutrition and this book offers practical advice to ensure the whole family eat a healthy diet. The recipes at the back are really useful and the flapjack recipe is still a firm favourite with all of us.
Enjoy the experience, your baby will love it!!

I'm so glad I bought this book! As a first time mum the thought of weaning is on your mind right from the beginning I was so worried I would under nourish my child or quickly make her obese through simply not knowing enough about portion size, salt content, artificial sugar risks etc etc the list or worries goes on and on and my biggest problem was where on earth do you start so you don't confuse baby any more than this experience already is. This book is perfect for all those questions and concerns with a step by step guide of what to do when, how much and how often and it answered a lot of questions I had a long the way. The book includes lots of recipes for all the family and is a huge help with mine and my partners diets too which will pave the way for us all to be a healthy family. I would highly recommend this book and many of my friends and even my health visitor are now backing this book :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of practical advice! 8 Sept. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read this book in response to attending a weaning picnic led by Penny Lazell. She spoke extremely passionately about Baby-Led Weaning and recommended this book. My daughter Emelie is almost 5 months old and my husband and I are extremely keen to try this approach. I found this book extremely practical and full of useful information, I am sure we will be referring to it constantly.

I cannot recommend the book enough! I first met Julie at the Bluewater Baby and Toddler Show and was introduced to the book and the doidy cup. We were unsure about whether to do BLW but she made the decision for us! It's easy to follow, has great pictures and recipe ideas, and even stories from other mums too! If you need guidance with blw then I'd definitely suggest this book!
