Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The Baby Einstein™ Colour Kaleidoscope from Kids II®, is an electronic grasp toy that will engage, entertain and fascinate with great sight, touch and sound effects over the course of 3 developmental stages. For babies 3 to 6 months, when baby grabs a handle lights and classical melodies are activated which helps develop eye tracking. For 6 to 12 months, babies can grasp a coloured handle to see coordinating colour light flash in the dome and hear the colour in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German or Portuguese to encourage language development. For 12 months and up, babies will grasp two handles to hear the secondary colour created when the two corresponding colours mix. Other features include: volume control, language selector switch, and 2 play modes: melody and colour introduction.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intelligent product, 17 Aug 2008

I bought this product after visiting a friend who had one. I think it is fabulous! Firstly, it helped my baby sit up because of the shape and size (it fits neatly between her feet and she was able to lean on it when she needed to). Secondly, even though she doesn't pull on the handles herself yet, she loves it when I do to hear the music and see it light up. The fact that baby can learn primary and secondary colours in a variety of languages is wonderful. I am teaching her how to pull the handles and I repeat the colours when they are said to encourage language development. (The kaleidscope is the light and it changes colours depending on which handle or combination of handles is pressed.) The range of music is lovely too.

2.0 out of 5 stars long winded , 8 Aug 2008

I was expecting this to be a proper kaleidscope with the added benefit of sound. But there is nothing kaleidscopic about this toy. You press a handle and hear either classical music or someone saying a colour in whatever language you choose and the blue bit at the top lights up. The kaleidscope is a piece of glittery paper on the base. Although the sound quality is really good, the music is far too long. In my view it isn't that much fun. My four month old voted no and so did I.

4.0 out of 5 stars difficult for little hands, 5 Sep 2009
i bought this for my daughter when she was 4 months old. she didn't really pay any attention to it until she was a year old. but after 5 months of trying, she still doesn't understand how to operate it!

the handles are too wide for her hands and the button isn't obvious to her.

i hope it will be of more use to her when she is a little older.
