Debut long player from eight piece Brighton-based old school funkers who, fronted by soul belter Dionne Charles, faithfully reprise the sounds of the JBs, the Meters, Dyke & The Blazers et al. The album was preceded by a trio of acclaimed singles (vinyl 7" only, naturally) which found favour amongst the cognoscenti, including Jazzman Gerald, Keb Darge, Snowboy and Mark Lamarr (the latter penned the sleevenotes). Thealbum includes an unlikely but heavily Afro-funkified coverof the Arctic Monkeys' 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor'.

This is a great album, Baby Charles have got a groove on. Cool keyboards and wind section along with a healthy dose of wah wah. Vocals sound great and the beats are spot on. If you enjoy Sharon Jones and the Dab king you'll enjoy his!
