From Amazon.co.uk

Classical music has been scientifically proven to encourage cognitive development in young children. Baby Beethoven, a 29-minute Baby Einstein production, presents excerpts from five of the composer's most famous symphonies--as well as incidental music--in a child-friendly, sensory-rich format. Familiar Beethoven themes like the "Ode to Joy" from his Ninth Symphony are playfully rendered on electric piano and accompanied by colorful images of toys in action, puppetry, and babies at play. The musical excerpts are relatively short and the imagery is quick-paced and varied enough to grab the limited attention span of viewers age 1 to 36 months. Unlike previous Baby Einstein presentations, each symphonic excerpt (though not the incidental music) is labelled--a feature that encourages further exploration of favorite pieces. Baby Beethoven is an aural and visual feast that promotes creativity, mental awareness and an appreciation for classical music in infants, toddlers, and their parents. --Tami Horiuchi

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant! 15 Feb 2005
Format:DVD
This DVD is brilliant!

the never ending changing of toys, characters, children, babies, lights on the screen keep my 10 month old son mesmorised! He loves dogs and squeels himself silly when he sees the dog puppet on the screen!

great for bunging on the TV when you want an extra 20 mins in bed, and is hopefully doing his brain a bit more good than the songs on the tweenies!

4.0 out of 5 stars Captivating for Babies 11 Jun 2004
By Beansmummy TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:VHS Tape|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is another excellent video from Baby Einstein. My 10 month old son adores Baby Mozart, and took a couple of days to be as interested in this one, being new and unfamiliar. It is more structured than Baby Mozart, but otherwise very similar. Now he loves it, especially, once again, the puppet show parts. I can't recommend these videos highly enough. I'm about to buy some of the others as they have been such a success for us.

One word of warning; none of these videos is particularly appealing to an adult mind so don't be put off until you have seen how your baby reacts. Every baby we know who has watched one of our videos is captivated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Baby Beethoven VHS 23 Aug 2003
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
This latest addition to the Baby Einstein collection has been a worth while wait. My 14 month old son loves the music and especially the animal puppets. He watches it with enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoys the 30 minutes, although I wish it was longer! Yet again, Baby Einstein has produced a perfect video for the younger mind. This is a great way to introduce classical music to both baby and adults!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth a look for tiny babies! 10 Jan 2005
Format:DVD
My little baby boy loved the bright images in this from a very young age (about 4 weeks old). I wouldn't think it is for the older baby though, he likes it as background sound now (14 months) as he is used to the tunes and even says ba ba ba ba when one of Beethoven's symphonies begins but he doesn't pay much attention to the images any more. He used to watch it all the way through, laying on the bed each morning. It gave me the chance to get a wash and do my hair!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't miss out 3 Feb 2006

My child loves it! Calming music and images. He turns his head to watch it whenever he hears the music start. He remains transfixed throughout and I can get on with the housework! Great for stimulating babies.

4.0 out of 5 stars Baby Beethoven is a winner 15 April 2004
By R. Mann
Format:DVD
I bought this video on the recommendation of a friend - and my baby son just loves it. He has watched it almost every day since he was about 2 1/2 months old and never seems to get bored - he is completely captivated by it. It gives me a reliable 29 minutes to do vital tasks elsewhere without feeling that he is being neglected! Personally I was a bit disappointed with the "plinky plonky" style of the music but perhaps the makers of this video know more than I about what appeals to babies! I would definitely recommend it (although I'm aware that not all babies take to it).

5.0 out of 5 stars A Godsend! 26 Jan 2004
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
I cannot recommend this video highly enough. My five month old son just loves it - he is clearly captivated by the images and bounces along to the music, cooing and smiling. It is wonderful to see how much he obviously gets out of it plus it gives me a chance to get on with things! Moreover, when he is inconsolable, it is the one thing that will instantly calm him down. I only wish we'd had a video like this for our first son!

A gift for my grandchild whose mother was slightly disappointed with the content of this DVD when compared to other productions. Probably a matter of taste.
