Product Description

In A NEW BABY AT KOKO BEAR’S HOUSE, a read-aloud story for young children and their parents, popular parenting author Vicki Lansky uses an adorable character, KoKo, the unisex little bear, to help them get ready for a new baby brother or sister. As KoKo learns about MaMa Bear’s pregnancy and BeBe Bear’s birth and homecoming, children will identify and share the experience. Here children learn what they can expect with the arrival of this new baby.

The simple story, written especially for children from two-and-a-half to six years old, describes feelings—jealousy, displacement and sagging self-esteem—that children will come to understand are normal. Charming color illustrations by Jane Prince warmly convey the anticipation and apprehensions of an expanding family.

Each page contains a separate box with helpful tips and suggestions for parents to read silently while they read aloud to their child. KoKo’s story and the accompanying advice for parents together should help make a new baby’s arrival a happy event for the entire family.

4.0 out of 5 stars A New Baby at Koko Bear's House 3 May 2000
By Jacqueline Shohet Zabin - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is a terrific book to help prepare children for their baby brothers or sisters. I have a 4 year old son and another child on the way and my son has enjoyed reading A New Baby at Koko Bear's House with me. It has elicited questions on my son's part and allowed us to discuss issues further. It covers several different topics including mom and dad going to the hospital and the fact that the baby isn't an instant playmate. In addition, the illustrations are very appealing to young children. As an extra bonus for the parents, the author includes many helpful hints (on the bottom of each page) to help make your older child's transition easier.
5.0 out of 5 stars Grandson's new baby sister. 13 Jan 2013
By Virginia R. Somoya - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
My young grandson liked being an only child getting all the attention in the family, so he wasn't thrilled when he learned he'd be competing for Mom & Dad's time and attention with a baby sister on the way. This book changed his mind and he then became impatient waiting for the big arrival!
4.0 out of 5 stars New Baby at Koko Bear's House 5 April 2007
By Kansasmother - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Good book to introduce the concept of a new baby coming to the house to another sibling. Helpful guidelines at the bottom the pages for parents to guide the siblings in this transition. It would of been nice if the book had more pages.
