Fun, summery chick-lit with bite - if you want a bit of escapism, this is perfect poolside fodder. --Cosmopolitan

'Fun, summery chick-lit with bite'
--Cosmopolitan, July Issue

'A fun beach read - great if you're looking for a holiday book that's not just boy-meets-girl' --Heat Magazine, 19 July 2011

It's a great poolside read, offering a slice of glamorous escapism in the tales of the A-list lifestyle, but also providing a dose of realism and seriousness in the aspects involving Barney's future and well-being. Fans of traditional frivilous chick lit won't be disappointed either, as Meg still manages to take the odd mini break or girlie night out without Barney too.

Product Description

'He's not mine, is he?' That's the question I fear the most. You see, I have a secret. My son is not fathered by my boyfriend, but by one of the most famous rock stars that ever lived. And he doesn't even know it. One-time celebrity personal assistant to wild boy of rock Johnny Jefferson, Meg Stiles is now settled and living in the south of France with her doting boyfriend Christian and their son Barney. But they're living a lie - a lie that will turn their lives upside down and inside out - because as Barney reaches his first birthday, Meg can no longer deny that her son is growing to look more and more like his rock star father every day, and less and less like Christian, and sooner or later, the world is going to realise ...

It is going to be extremely tough to say everything that I want to say, not only about this book but about Paige Toon and her ability to create the most beloved characters with whom I now consider to be my closest friends. It is so nice to see Meg and Johnny again. I have missed them so! I first was introduced to Toon's novels by a friend and Johnny Be Good (JBG) was my travel companion on the train from London to Birmingham. I couldn't put it down. I was so immersed in this rock star's world. I have to admit, it has always been a dream of mine to be a PA for some hot shot celebrity so I was living my dream through Meg. I was so gutted when it got to the end. I mean, HOW could Toon just leave me with this cliffhanger!!!! The only comfort that I had was that not only did I have the rest of Toon's novels to keep me company but there would be a sequel to this wonderful book!

Baby Be Mine is perfection. It picks up right where JBG left off and Toon really does a fantastic job keeping the characters in tact. I sometimes find it extremely difficult to like a sequel to a novel because even though the characters have the same names and are following the previous storyline, I find that they turn into completely different people-- almost like it is a complete new book. Toon doesn't fall into that category of authors-- Meg is still the same lovely girl except now she has done a bit of growing up ( a baby will do that to you!) Johnny is still the same charming and utterly gorgeous supermegafoxy rockstar god who is a serial heartbreaker, but after learning he is a father does some major renovations in his life. This book will have you literally shrieking with joy. ( I can attest to that.)

If you are worried that with this sequel you'll be reading endless nonsense that builds to a big revelation that finally happens at the end, then have no fear, Toon spares us from that-- so grateful Paige! -- from the first few chapter you are already swept away into the baby daddy drama and you spend the rest of the novel uncovering the woes of new parenting. Of course, in a rock star fashion that only Johnny Jefferson can muster.

Can I also give a big thank you to Paige for giving us updates on Daisy and Luis from Chasing Daisy in this novel. I love the way that Toon does that. All of her characters are in this amazing web of familiarity with each other and it just gives all her books this comfort factor that I adore.

Please please PLEASE read Baby Be Mine and the rest of Paige Toon's novels. They are magical and utterly beguiling and you won't be disappointed.

Fabulous sequel! 26 Sep 2011

** NOTE - IF YOU HAVE NOT READ `JOHNNY BE GOOD' THIS REVIEW WILL INEVITABLY CONTAIN SPOILERS**

I only read my first Paige Toon book a few weeks ago which happened to be `Johnny Be Good'. I was so impatient for the sequel that this one suddenly shot straight to the top of my `to read' pile.

In the book Johnny Be Good we met Meg Stiles working as a PA to the hottest rock star on the planet Johnny Jefferson. She has a turbulent relationship with her boss Johnny and although she is madly in love with him we see her finish the story having got together with Johnny's friend Christian.

For those that have already read that book you will know that it ended with Meg realising that her pregnancy was more than likely the result of her one night fling with Johnny and not her current live in boyfriend Christian. I admit, I was crushed when I realised it was an ending like that, but thankfully for me as I only recently picked Paige's books up I didn't have long to wait. We catch up with Meg and Christian who now live in the South of France with their son Barney. Except Meg is the only one that Barney is not in fact Christian's, but her ex-boss and one time love Johnny Jefferson.

In the last book, I loved Meg and Christian but wasn't that much of a fan on Johnny. This new book changes my opinion slightly, but not entirely! Strangely, although Johnny is a naughty so and so that doesn't appear to keep out of trouble I found myself warming to him anyway.

As usual Paige takes us on the messy and sometimes laugh out loud funny journey of Meg's revelation to both Christian and Johnny. The turbulent times ahead for her drag us along as a reader and I found myself completely immersed in their world. Paige Toon also has an uncanny knack for making you feel like you are sitting on the couch of their home with them, or looking out over the fabulous view of Los Angeles, she has that knack to take you wherever they go.

As I made my way to well over the halfway point, I wasn't sure if I was going to entirely like the ending and as predicted I'm still not to sure, but think that is entirely down to personal preference and not the writing. As ever I finished the book feeling strangely satisfied, but craving more Toon!

Thankfully for me I have lots of books of hers I have yet to read so I can get my next fix when I need to. I can honestly say that I think Paige Toon fans will be grateful for this sequel and I would highly recommend her books, but suggest starting with the earlier ones and working your way through them.

The Perfect Ending! 24 July 2011
Format:Paperback
When I heard that Paige Toon was writing a sequal to Johnny B Good I could hardly contain my excitment, and once again she didn't fail to deliever. I started reading at 10 and didn't put it down until I had devoured it. The story is a whirl wind of emotion from the gut wrenching heart ache to wanting to scream at the characters to tears of joy. Paige Toon hits the nail on the head in all aspects of this story it's just incredible! It is the perfect ending to the story of Johnny and Meg.
