Colour Name: Green & Gold Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I may just have been lucky - I did this with my little godchild while she was visiting as a surprise gift for mum and dad and it was very straight forward.

Admittedly there was bribery involved and she's almost two and was eager to see the result and to 'keep a secret'

It's not rocket science - apply paint with roller, apply hand (in our case) to the ball quite carefully and then remove and soak the hand in some warm water immediately for a minute before wiping it clean.

The hardest bit was writing her name elegantly on the ball with the supplied gold pen - I'm no calligrapher.

My TWO TOP TIPS for any other godparents, grandparents (or any non-parents who might not know the child as well as mum and dad do) is:
1: Let the child practise putting her dry, clean hand on the ball correctly before painting the hand. Once they have the knack of pressing properly (we found heel of the hand down first worked best) - it is much easier when using the paint. Bribe after each correct press :-)
2: Have a bowl of soapy water ready to pop the painted hand into immediately - much easier to clean up after a quick soak especially if you're quick enough that the paint hasn't dried to the skin.

Hope it helps somebody - I can't tell you how it's been received yet as it's a xmas gift

I was initially a bit dubious about this product, especially regarding the paint that needs to be applied to baby's hand (hand is much easier than foot!). But, after looking at the manufacturers website, they specialise in this sector and the parent company owns several well known brands (e.g. Maxi Cosi, etc) which increased my confidence.

The concept is quite simple - paint baby's hand and then place the hand around a Christmas decoration. Painting a baby's hand is a bit of a challenge (babies never stay still, unless sleeping!) and then having to apply the hand around the ball is the second challenge. But with a bit of planning it works quite well, and voila - you have a nicely decorated ball.

Of course you only get one real shot at decorating the ball, therefore you need to be careful (and it's easier said than done). But if you get lucky then the end result is actually quite nice.

This is a great, cheap, ideal Christmas gift for anyone. It is a lovely idea, a lovely keepsake and everything you need in one kit.

Admittedly it does look easier than it is. It comes with a little tube of gold paint - a roller for easy application and a gold pen. This works a lot better with 2 people and a child! One adult to hold the bauble in place and one to deal with painting the hand/foot and getting it in place.

We went for the hand option and used the paint - it works better if you don't use too much paint as it's quite thin and smudges easily - you don't need too much to make a print and it's easier to remove the childs hand afterwards when it's not too slidey. We realised this after the first attempt when my nephews hand slid across the whole print completely smudging it upon removal but if you are quick you can't wipe this straight off and start again.

Our second attempt was better and we propped it up to dry and wrote the name and date and it does make a lovely present - if you don't fancy attempting this yourself it makes a very thoughtful gift for someone else to tackle!! But we did have fun and it is a nice festive activity to do for any child under about 7 - the bauble is very large.

Nice set - great price - worth the money, a nice gift - recommended novelty item!

The idea behind this gift is good.
In reality the practicality of a young child doing this task is almost impossible.
A young child simply does not have the patience for this.
I found that the paint really did make a mess.
A good tip is to have a lot of room to work in, with plenty of newspaper around and preferably an apron of some sort on the child.
I was very disappointed with this gift.

As other reviewers have pointed out the Baby Art Christmas Ball is not suitable for younger baboes and toddlers, dispite the packaging stating it is suitable for children age 0 - 3 years. The paint is not easy to apply to hands and even harder to get off - I couldn't use hot water and had to scrub my daughters hands with a flanel and warm water. It also disn't stick the the Christmas ball very well. Getting her to hold the ball and keep her hands still was virtually impossible (to be fair I'm sure that it would be easier for an older child). This resulted in a very unhappy child. The idea of a personalised Christmas Ball is an excellent one but I just wish it could have been easier to apply.

Brought this from another retailer for my 6 month old baby. Everything you need came in the pack, which I loved. However, I do not recommend this to be used to imprint the hands of young babies as it is very fiddly to get the paint on and then to get their hands to open and press firmly onto the bauble. I would say 1+ would be the ideal age if you want to capture a hand print.

I managed to do a lovely print of my baby's foot whilst he was asleep. If you don't like the print that you have done then it is possible to wipe the print off the bauble with a wet wipe if you are quick. A quick polish with a cloth, and you are ready to try again.

Removing the paint off his hands and foot was another issue. The paint starts to dry and it takes some scrubbing with wet wipes to get it all off. Another reason I would not recomend this for young babies as the paint gets into the creases and nails of the skin and young babies, then they like to chew their hands. I got some paint on my hands and the only way it came off was with a good scrub using a green kitchen scourer.
