Babe is all about the title character, a heroic little pig who's been taken in by the friendly farmer Hoggett (Oscar nominee James Cromwell), who senses that he and the pig share "a common destiny." Babe, a popular mischief-maker the Australian farm, is adopted by the resident border collie and raised as a puppy, befriended by Ferdinand the duck (who thinks he's a cockerel), and saves the day as a champion "sheep-pig." My daughter was seven when we watched this together and I think we both enjoyed it equally; and though I could not have watched it again as many times as she did over the next few months, I have certainly seen it at least twice since. How wonderful to have a film for any age group to enjoy. An enormous amount of care and thought has gone into making this and it shows. Its very funny, engaging, no awful mangled accents to struggle with, and the sound track is lovely - especially the mice!

I love this movie so much - Babe tenderly appeals to all ages and fights the good fight for animal rights without being too pushy/dark/in your face (like the second film)... ever since I saw this movie I haven't been able to even think of eating any pork product - no lie!! A wonderfully touching classic for all time.

Babe dvd
I bought this for my 5 yr old and overall he loved this classic but was upset by the dog attack killing the sheep so possibly not totally suitable for very young children.
