Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Traditional methods of hair removal, such as waxing, epilating or shaving, may seem like too much hassle--the Simply Smooth from Babyliss offers a less painful alternative. Working more like an electric sanding tool, rapidly oscillating smoothing pads remove hair almost painlessly with minimum fuss and promises beautifully smooth legs for up to two weeks. The sensation of hair removal with the Simply Smooth is unusual, but certainly isn't painful. It's easy to operate too: simply plug in and use gentle movements to remove hair of any length--there's no need to wait weeks for regrowth. As its name would suggest, the Simply Smooth is an effective exfoliator too, sloughing away dead skin cells giving you a silky finish, and eliminates the need for messy creams. Enjoy baths and showers without having to worry about unsightly shaving cuts; you could even use it while watching TV.

As with all new gizmos, it probably requires some practice to get the technique perfect: for example, getting the pressure right to guarantee optimum hair removal, as well as reaching the back-of-knee area. The initial results were good and felt smoother than those from simply shaving, although with repeated use significant improvement could be expected. The application of a good moisturiser after use would be a definite aid towards to getting the same sexy-looking legs as on the packaging. --Hannah Edwards

I bought this item on the back of some rave reviews about silky smooth skin and pain free dufuzzing.
I have to say that the reality was a lot different... Having followed the instructions to the letter (no pressure, clean dry skin etc...) the results were pretty patchy, which i put down to first time use. I was looking forward to trying it again to start seeing the promised results...
Well, let's just say that we never had a second try... within a couple of hours my legs were so dry, flaky and itchy that i could happily have peeled all the skin off of my legs to ease the discomfort.
For over a week i had to suffer intense itching and painfully sensitive skin, and nothing could ease it at all - moisturiser, after sun, ice, calamine lotion, Lanacane, you name it. I even have cuts on my legs where i was scratching in my sleep - not a good Summer look!
I would not recomment this product to anyone as the suffering is just not worth the end result - buy a Gillette Venus, King of Shaves Gel and exfoliation wash and you will get pretty much the same effect - without the pain.

The hype is a little hard to believe, and the reality is far from the hype. However thus said I was a little off put by all the bad reviews here. This almost lead to me not actually getting it, however now that I have I am glad to have tried it.
You *must* read and follow the instructions. The skin is a very fine layer, and if you go straight onto setting number 2, or press hard on it, then you will have problems as described in other reviews. It does say do a test area, and this is very important to do, however do not do what I did! Don't try it on the leg, and go over it in 24 hrs. That will cause discomfort. I found that getting the action was a little hard to do to begin, and the first night my legs were a little itchy, although having done a second run I have no discomfort. I guess you also have to get used to the feeling as well as getting the skin used to it.
Regarding the claims of "Results last 3 times longer than blade", I'd disagree with that. Hair re-grow is the same as shaving with me. Other people may vary. One thing I will say it's far easier to do than shaving. Having had problems shaving anyway, I find it easier to do and quicker.
Not quite sure what this product is sold on, the silky smooth legs, or hair re-growth. If it's for hair re-growth I'd say they failed, because it's not that great (it's passable), however legs are quite smooth. Plump for an after wax or shaving balm, don't get anything with oil in it, and wait a short while to apply.
Overall I'd recommend this product, but with strict warnings about what exactly to do, and would also impress that you must read the instructions!

I actually think It's funny in a way now seeing other reviews that I and so many others have had the same results from this product of torture. I bought it thinking it was going to be the answer to all my prayers. As has been mentioned in other reviews, use lightly as insructed and it does nothing,I basically after trying it on both legs only once ended up with such awfully damaged skin that didn't heal for weeeks.I wrote straight away to Babyliss and they very promptly wrote back apologising and sent me a very nice goodwill gift. The product had only just come onto the market so I imagine I might have been their only complaint, but I would urge other people to write,I think with a product like this doing so much damage they really need to know.

So glad to hear it wasn't just me that found this hard to use. Painless? Not likely.Use lightly it reads, you use lightly it doesn't remove the hair, you have to keep going over the same bit although it tells you not to,then leaves you with scaley, itching skin, that I have scratched until I bled.Yes it burns, but being a glutton for punishment,I used it again, thought I may have to get used to it,still the same reaction, except now it has left me with dry patches.I thought it must me just me,obviously not.Now left with an expensive item that doesn't do the job!Still I could always use it to sand down the doors.

The first time I used this it hurt. In fact, it hurt a lot. It actually hurt so much that I couldn't lie down properly for a period of three hours after using it and I had to run to the bathroom and slap lotion on my legs. And this was despite it being on the lowest speed with my using as little pressure as possible.
However, by day two the pain had gone so on day three I went back to it. And that time it was bearable. By around my tenth use, I able to go to speed two. It's not bad now. Sill a little bit stingy but no worse than a nick from the razor.
The job this does isn't wonderful and it doesn't work miracles. However, it isn't bad. It gives my legs about the same result as a shave would. It also has slowed down my re-growth, even though it's not quite to the three times as slow I was promised on the box. Unfortunately, the bulky design makes some parts of the leg almost impossible to do right, leaving gross hairy patches surrounded by smooth skin.
The rotating discs I think are where they really plan on getting you with costs. After only a months use, I was already on my second disc.
I would say that this product is worth giving a try. I don't think it will work for everybody and those with sensitive skin should almost certainly avoid. But I think it's worth a shot.
