i have owned a crocolis hd extreme cam since the 13th of january 2012, i have water tested it and given it a fair punishment in salt water and on my bike, you can find my channel on youtube with several videos filmed by and with the crocolis hd search youtube for "offmyheadcam",
overall the camera is very easy too use the funtctions are easy too scroll through and change, its not brilliant on poor light conditions and the sounds something too desired, although i have found if the back is uncliped when in dry conditions the sound does improve greatly,
i have also noticed that it doesnt use a massive bit rate when filming so i only have a 16gb sd card which gives 6hrs55mins recording time and the battery will last 3hrs from a fully charged battery.

This is the second one of these I've bought, and only because I was stupid enough to lose the first one!

I bought it after seeing a dashcam video on Youtube and asking the uploaded what cam he'd used, given the exceptional quality of the images. I was a little dubious about a generic cam being anywhere near the quality of videos I've seen from other models with the same specs, but I was wrong.

First things first, the video quality is superb at both 1080 and 720p, though make sure you use a fast enough SD card! 720p uses a wider 'fish eye' view in contrast to 1080, which is a useful thing in itself*. Everything is absolutely pin-sharp and motion is fluid. You can select to have the time or time + date stamp if you want, which is handy for dash cam and other uses. The one drawback is that the protective lens-housing can become a bit scratched if you end up using it as often as I did, ie pretty much everwhere. If you remove it everything is like new again, although obviously it's then no longer waterproof and the lens isn't protected. It would be easy to replace, if only there were replacement caps available.

The mounts are mostly excellent, except for the suction cup. It shakes a lot and makes a loud rattling noise on the video, and it'll start falling off more and more as time goes on. Do what I did (after a month of escalating annoyance) and use some sticky velco or even the supplied adhesive pads to mount and unmount one of the other brackets to the dashboard(s).

One other thing about the peripheries that I found out far too late - the clip on microphone is of very good quality. I'd presumed it would be rubbish like most peripherals usually are, but it's actually a superb little thing and definitely worth using.

I have been looking for a camera of this type for some time and this one looked to be suitable for the project in mind. The unit is small and feels very robust. The screen is a bit too small but is adequate. The four buttons that are just below the screen are very small and difficult to use especially if you have whopping great fingers like me! The three buttons on the top are much easier to use. The picture quality at 1080p and 25fps is surprisingly good but the sound quality can only be described as awful. Attaching an external microphone through the 2.5mm jack gives a better result. This jack socket is accessed through the fold down waterproof flap at the rear of the unit. This causes great difficulty when trying to operate the camera as with the flap down the screen cannot be viewed with ease. The various mounting accessories which come with the camera are good and well thought out but attaching some of these to the foot of the camera is very difficult and a great deal of pressure is required to mount or dismount some of these attachment.
Battery charging is via the USB socket under the rear flap. I have used both the car charger (supplied) and a USB lead to my computer. Both functioned OK. Downloading video and/or photos from the SD card is through the USB lead. No problems connecting to my Mac computers both running Mavericks 10.9.

The camera is amazing! After watching the review that Techmoan posted on youtube i bought this straight away.
Brilliant quality video in day light! Poor quality footage using it indoors (in artificial light) but who needs to use a camera like this indoors. You can also take still images whilst recording, which seems to be something some of the cheaper go pros cant do.
The day time outdoor quality rivals most on the market. The build quality is really good, nice water proof seal and takes a full size SD card.
The time lapse photo setting is easy to easy and can take photos as fast as every 1 second. And with the cheap prize of the crocolis i feel much safer leaving this taking a time lapse for hours then leaving my SLR.
i would recommend this camera to any looking for a astonishing value for money small action camera!

Ordered 17/11, arrived 28/11 FROM CHINA brilliant. I am so impressed with this bit of kit. OK £90 but the leads and clamps and straps would cost that. I have just spent £15 on a clamp for my Etrex! The buttons are a bit fiddly but you soon get used to them and it is simple to operate.
Quality of film and photo is more than acceptable. If you want Leica quality, buy a Leica! This is brilliant.
There is a very good video tutorial on line. I'm thinking of getting another to use as a rear facing cam. Maybe a few hints and Ill get one for xmas!
Thanks Crocolis.
