4.0 out of 5 stars A Valuable Resource for Beginners 27 May 2014
By Geraldine - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm a long-time knitter but I still like to check out the newest offerings when it comes to Kindle beginners knitting guides. I often review them here and also share them at my cooking and craft blog: Veggies, Yarns & Tails and my review blog: My Real Life Reviews, when I find a keeper. :-)

This two book bundle from Chloe Thompson is definitely worth a look, if you are just beginning to knit or have not taken the "sock-knitting plunge" before this! ;-)

the material is presented in an easy to understand way and includes some tips that I haven't noted elsewhere. For example: bypassing metal/aluminum needles (especially dpns) IS definitely a good idea, if you are just starting to knit.

The photos are welcome in this book and always my preference over diagrams that can be confusing and hard to understand.

Two easy sock patterns are also included.

The ribby socks are a bit "lame" looking, that's why I'm giving this book 4 instead of 5 stars. Draping them over books isn't the best way to photograph any socks.

Overall, definitely worth downloading and adding to your Kindle craft collection!

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed 28 May 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was excited to see a collection of basic knit stitches with the hopes of being able to expand my beginner's knowledge of knitting. How disappointed I was when the very first pattern I tried was the wrong instruction. The pattern instructions on the page with the "simple scallop" is actually for "seeded triangle". I wanted to love this book, but, first impressions and all... Hopefully if I try the sock instruction, it will be better?
