Product Description

Psyllium Husks are a highly soluble source of fibre. Many diets are low in fibre, and fibre helps to increase satiety as well as being essential for healthy digestion. Our Psyllium Husks Powder is finely ground and thus easy to supplement with, as opposed to 'Whole Psyllium Husks', which many companies supply. Our Psyllium Husk Powder provides a convenient source of high quality fibre that can be added to other drinks to increase fibre consumption. Psyllium husks are a highly soluble and convenient source of dietary fibre. Please note that this product is psyllium husk powder, a finely ground version of psyllium husks and by far the most convenient way of supplementing with psyllium! Where to find Psyllium Husks: Psyllium Husks derive from the seed of the Plantago Ovata plant, which is found throughout Europe, Africa and Asia. Psyllium Husks are also known as: Psyllium, Psyllium Husk Powder, Psyllium Fibre, Plantago Ovata. As a nutritional supplement, psyllium husks will not directly improve performance. Nevertheless, their high fibre content will help ensure a healthy body, which is essential if we are to perform to our optimal capabilities. RELIEVE CONSTIPATION Due to its high fibre content, psyllium husks are an effective remedy for constipation. When taken with lots of water, the husks swell and increase the peristalsis action of the intestines, which consequently promotes the flow of bowel matter. To this extent, psyllium husks are seen as 'nature's laxative'. CONTRIBUTE TO WEIGHT LOSS As per the above, when taken with plenty of water, psyllium husks swell in size. This causes a feeling of fullness and thus serves to reduce appetite in the user. Psyllium husks have also been shown to promote a number of other benefits, which include; maintaining stable blood sugar levels, lowering cholesterol levels, bowel and colon cleansing and improving the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Indications

We would suggest taking psyllium husks first thing in the morning with plenty of water. Psyllium husk powder can even be mixed in with your cereal or yoghurt for the ultimate in convenience!

I've used psyllium husk powder for a few years to give the insides a bit of a cleanout when necessary. Hitherto I've purchased from H*ll*nd and B*rr*tt, but this is far cheaper weight for weight. The quality of this seems much better than the H&B brand too in the sense of being more finely ground. It thus works better mixing with liquid and doesn't clump quite as much so is easier to get down. These days I usually mix with yoghurt though which is easier than taking with liquid.

The resealable bag includes a small scoop. The recommended dose on the back of the packet is half a scoop, 2g, which is rather small. I've always used larger doses than this (heaped teaspoon) with no ill effects. With a bag this size, it's still going to last ages.

I have purchased this directly from "Bulk Powders". Sadly it is not pure as I thought. It is not pure husk but the whole seed powdered. Very difficult to drink as it taste very unpleasant. The one I have been using for years was pure white or slightly off white and only husk, which is much easier to consume. also I felt fine grains of silica(stone?) after drinking it in the mouth. It is surprising that none of the reviews here mentioned any of these!

Got this to help with digestion & it works. Don't drink it just with water as it's not pleasant! Try 50% cranberry juice, 50% water. Even better, cranberry juice, 3 table spoons of natural yogurt & some fresh berries mixed in a blender (I use the smoothie 2 go) - then you don't even know you're drinking it & you don't have to down it!

Was recommended this after my first irrigation!!! and with this and some probiotics my life long struggle with constipation is now over. what can I say it tastes awful and you have to be quick when you add it to water but it does the job. I take 1 teaspoon in a mixture of water and orange juice morning and night and I am a changed person. My husband works out and he adds his to his daily protien smoothy. Either way get it down your neck its brilliant. Your body can't digest it so it just passes through cleaning along the water, just remember to drink an extra glass or 2 of water :-)

Very strange, unlike any other Psyillium I've ever had. Colour, taste, smell, texture, all made me wonder what it actually was. I have been taking Psyillium for about 5 years, and have never seen anything like this. The company were not very helpful and refused a refund (although they did offer to test the powder if I returned it at my expense, but I didn't feel there was any point as I had a good idea of what the result might be). I threw it away and bought more from a reputable supplier (Suma).

I normally make low carb bread with psyllium husk powder, but my normal brand was out of stock so thought I would try this one. It is not good. It tastes like sand, gritty between your teeth and makes the bread very heavy. Unlike any other brand I've ever used.

Just received my 500g packet today as others have said this is a fine powdered form of Psyllium Husk. Two points worth mentioning are because it's powdered you have to drink it slightly quicker than with just the husk as it starts to thicken up quite quickly it also tastes bitter unlike unpowdered husk so you need to take it with a strong tasting juice or smoothie like other reviewers have said Cranberry juice is perfect! I'm yet to try mixing it with an electric milk frother as one review mentioned (ingenious!)

all in all a fantastic product at an unbeatable price!

Delivered promptly and is a good size product. The powder itself tastes quite pleasant sprinkled on cereal, or is unnoticeable in baking. It comes with its own measuring spoon which is ideal for portion control and helps it to last for ages. As to psyllium husk as a source of fibre, I have been genuinely impressed and can notice when I do not have a serving, which I usually have with linseeds on my cereal, as part of my daily diet.
