Amazon.co.uk Review
Planning a route using a traditional printed atlas is not always easy. Apart from anything else, finding the best route by tracing roads printed over several pages can be trying. And how do you normally go about locating a particular street in a city you don't know? The AA's
MileMaster Plus 2001 is a route planner that can help you work out how to get from one place to the next, but also act as a Britain-wide street finder.
To find a street you type in its name and the software offers up all the places in Britain that share it. Choose the one you want, and a map showing its location appears. Right mouse click and you can add it to a route. Repeat the task to set an end point, and calculating a route takes only a minute or two. Once done you get a complete set of written instructions and a map showing the route. Both of which can be printed.
You can get the software to mark petrol stations, pubs, train stations, historic monuments, hotels and restaurants on the map, and can even add your own locations, putting in branch offices, the homes of your friends and relations or just very pleasant places to visit. And when planning a route you can factor in up to 20 places to stop off.
