We are a seller of this fine phone but as we have just had a customer return one as it "needs power" we decided to state here that it does indeed "need power" namely a Power adapter you plug into the electricity socket.
So hopefully all clear then - this phone need to be plugged into the BT line and the main electric.

***Big mistake*** procuring this model of telephone. You have to select either speakerphone or headset manually and if you forget to deselect the headset after finishing your call - you will leave your line engaged, still connected to the person that called you or vice versa - resulting in excessive call charges for either party concerned.

I have since replaced the unit with a more suitable make & model.

I like this phone a lot.. It is simple, clear, easy to set up and cheap. Have to say the only niggle is that some of the functions won't work without power (speaker phone etc) but most people would expect that?! Mine is wall mounted and used a lot as I work from home 2 days a week and have to say it has never let me down. We get on fine and the 1571 facility is a nice touch too. The handsfree option is very well engineered with conference calls being a genuine event with meaning vs a technology screw up. Recommended BUT Why 4 star? Because the only annoying part is that to dial out (with the handset down) you have to punch out the number and THEN press the dial button. An annoyance that you get used to BUT why BT had you not thought that If I was so inclined to type in a load of numbers to the handset I was aiming to speak to the personages on the other end of the exchange? A minor but relevant niggle i feel but not one for putting you off.
