Looks nice, but poor sound, 4 Oct 2007
I bought one of these, and the build of it, and the functions are very nice. Unfortunately, as a phone, it's less good.
It has a 'noise-gate', which is supposed to reduce the amount of background noise you hear from the person you're calling, buy turning down the volume on your ear-piece when they are not talking. However, on the unit I had, this was way too sensitive, and cut the volume if the person you were calling started speaking quietly, or if they were on a slightly bad line. Adjusting the handset volume doesn't help matters.
After a few frustrating calls, repeatedly asking people to speak-up to get them to talk loud enough to trigger the noise-gate, or miss-hearing reference numbers given to me by people in call-centers with bad phone-lines, I had to return my unit.

Not much memory, but bought for sending the odd SMS text message., 24 Oct 2009
I have a good set of home phones already, but my new BT package gives me 200 free texts a a month, so I needed to get a phone that was text enabled.
I didn't want to spend a large amount of cash, as I wasn't sure I would use the service that much, so bought this cheaply from Amazon Marketplace, as it's no longer available as a new item.
It's a well made machine, and feels solid in your hand. The menu system is easy to use and I sent my first SMS within a few minutes of putting it all together.
It has a nice solid stand, complete with answering machine, should you need it, and operates away from the stand quite happily.
I found the sound quality of the phone pretty good, and I like the 'bounce back' you get from the rubberized buttons on the keypad, so you get positive feedback when you press a button.
The only downside, though for the price I paid I'm not going to complain, is the very small memory of the SMS feature. It can only hold 10 messages at any one time, and that includes both incoming and outgoing messages.
For me, though, that's not a deal breaker, as if I find I use the feature a lot I will buy a more suitable phone for the home and put this one away for emergencies, or maybe sell it on to someone else who wants to try out those free SMS messages.....
