Product Description

BT Diverse 7460 Plus 060747 Phones IP POTS Phones

Manufacturer's Description

The BT Diverse 7460 Plus digital cordless phone is the Diverse Repeater compatible version of the BT Diverse 7460. The BT Diverse 7460 Plus is the top of the range cordless phone in the new BT Diverse Plus range and has a built in digital answering machine. If more than one handset is required then the BT Diverse 7400 Plus extra handset needs to be purchased seperately as well.

The BT Diverse range has always been a very popular range of Home and Business phones. One of the reasons the Diverse range is so popular is that they are reliable and easy to use, and you will be glad to know this hasn’t changed. The size of the BT Diverse 7460 Plus cordless handset is compact but not too small like some mobile phones. Also the buttons on the new BT Diverse 7460 Plus are nice and chunky and it has a sleek black look as well.

With a digital recording time of 27 minutes there is plenty of storage space for incoming callers messages. Users can record there own outgoing messages and even access the machine remotely as well. The answering machine on the BT Diverse 7460 is also very simple to use with all the buttons clearly marked on the base. One of the benefits of the BT Diverse Plus range is that the design is both simple and effective to use. Menus are easy to navigate and buttons are not too small even though the handset is quite compact. The Diverse 7460 Plus cordless phone is also very stylish and is finished in a sleek black colour as well.

In total up to 5 cordless handsets can be registered to the BT Diverse 7460 Plus base station, ideal for locating handsets in other rooms anywhere within its range and without the need for a further phone socket as the handsets work remotely from the main base station. Usually indoors this range is upto 50m and outdoors upto 300m.

Other features on the BT Diverse 7460 Plus include polyphonic ringtones, standard ringtones, visual ring indicator, volume control, VIP indicator, SIM card reader and writer, quick dial memories, handsfree, headset socket, auto answer, secrecy, handset naming, keypad lock, call timer, clock, low battery indicator, out of range indicator and also includes a belt clip.

This product comes with a low energy power supply and recyclable packaging.

The BT Diverse 7460 cordless phone is a unique model in the range as it has both a phone keypad on the base as well as the cordless handset. As you can probably tell from the product image the controls on the base of the BT Diverse 7460 are pretty straight forward. As well as the full number keypad, the answer machine and release keys the 7460 base even has its own LCD screen. On the side of the base is a small SIM card slot so users can copy their mobile phone numbers to the BT Diverse 7460 phone. This can save a lot of time especially as there is room for up to 200 entries on the phone. These can also be copied over to other handsets if more are added to the Diverse 7460 at a later date.

Other models in the BT Diverse Plus range are the BT Diverse 7110, 7150, 7410 & the 7450.

I bought this cordless desk phone for my home office, which has a dedicated business line.

Range is very good, I simply hit the 'lock' button and put it in my back pocket if I need to be elsewhere in the property.

It looks great, and ergonomically the only gripe I would have is that to 'synchronise' your Names between the Base and the Handset, you seemingly have to enter them on the Base, delete all the stored numbers off the Handset, and then Copy All across to the handset afresh. However, this isn't a problem - just remember only to enter new Names and contact details into the Base and you'll be fine.

The ringtones are uber-cheesy but don't worry, there's one in there which actually sounds like a normal brrrrring-brrrrrring phone :-)

I haven't got around yet to setting up BT 1571, but I may not now since the inbuilt Answering Machine is so simple, and you can easily remote-access it when you're out on the road, too.

Speech quality seems clear, people can hear me easily and I can hear them. Handset volume is fine. When using the Base hands-free for conference calls, the loudest Base volume could maybe be 20% louder, but it's workable.

Oh, one other ergonomic quibble: when you make a call on the Base, and start speaking hands-free, there doesn't seem to be any way to transfer the call to the Handset - IE: transfer, then continue the call on the Handset. Once you've started a call on the Base (making or receiving), you have to complete it on the Base.

Again, not a major issue.

Overall a very solid 4/5, after around a month of intense use. Happy.

Phone seems OK (I have only had it for a few days) in terms of receiving and sending calls, but two disappointments have appeared. 1) it does not seem possible to transfer calls from the handset to the desk speaker but you have to stick with one or the other (where as I had hoped that I would be able, say, to take a call using the loudspeaker on the base but then, if I chose, switch the call to the handset if I wanted to speak to the caller more "directly"). All attempts to do this (or the reverse) have failed to date (and I cannot find anything in the online user guide to tell me how to do this). 2) Even worse, when I was unpacking the phone, I noticed a wrapper wound the handset saying, "Do not place the phone near other electrical appliances such as computers, TVs etc as it may cuase interfere with their reception." I then read in the user guide that "not near" means it should be at least one metre from your PC. This is a pain as I had been planning to place it more or less directly next to my desk tower PC on my left hand side. Instead, I have put it on the totally different (right) hand side. I then failed to get an adequate link from my iPad to my Apple TV device in the living room yesterday evening. Came upstairs to the study, disconnected the phone connection > internet connection fine. Means I shall now have to disconnect the phone very time I leave the study for a longer time; real nuisance! Tried to phone the "BT Technical Support" line number given in the handbook but (as I had presumed would be the case) complete waste of time (> queue > "Your call is important to us" three times and then cut off dead; a complete joke (as 90% of such "help lines" are)).Read more ›

Have tried and discarded or returned a few phones because they do not suite a small business or fail to work, fall to bits after 6 months. This one is great, copied my contents from the mobile sim, allows you to select the ones you want. Then with the help of the manual copied these to the handset.
Good screens and good sized buttons on both base station and headset.
You can conference in both the base and handset. You can transfer a call from the base to the handset and back using the conference feature.
The port on the handset allows you to connect a headset using the 2.5mm jack plug. This is great you can clip it to a belt , your pocket (shirt or trousers) and walk around talking through the headset.
For someone who needs both hands free on a computer and to be able to talk to clients for upto and over an hour at times it is superb.
Recommend this unit, worth every penny.

I've just moved from Canada and have Canadian and UK business lines going to this phone for my office in my house.
The main reason I chose it was the headset connector (I spend hours on conference calls). I also like that I can dial from the base for hands free, or walk around with the cordless (this is where the headset plugs in).
I get a lot of late night/middle of the night calls from Canada due to time zones (and spam calls) so the only thing I wish this phone had was a night mode for automatically muting the ringer overnight, which is a nice feature on my Panasonic home phone. I have to remember to manually turn the ringer off when I go to bed.
Call clarity is great, and it's working very well for me.

This is the worst cordless phone we have ever bought. The range is abysmal, if you are in the next room from the base station the interference is terrible - go any further and you will lose the call. The calls display is deathly slow and doesn't even show you the date and time of the call without further delay.

Our last three cordless have all been Panasonic and even the earliest one outperformed this heap of junk. We are going to have to buy another phone and just this one in the bedroom - hopefully it will reach the few feet to the bed without too much trouble

I am unable to give it zero stars, which is all it deserves, so will have to settle for one star. My advice to anyone considering buying one of these is don't waste your money !!!!
