I looked all over the web for a baby monitor with this feature set. I was all set to buy the Phillips as it was the only one that had DECT but then I came across this one.
Although it isn't clear from the description, I emailed BT and they confirmed that this does use DECT as well. In case you don't know DECT is a digital transmission (used for the best cordless phones), it is very clear and I am able to use it even though I and my neighbours have DECT handsets (no interfearence). The range is fantastic and the built in tempreature display and alarm which is very useful. The sensitivity is phenomenal and there is zero hiss, on full sensitivity I can even hear a clock ticking in the next room - fortunately it's adjustable to filter out unwanted noises.
Definately the best baby monitor available.

This is our second monitor. I wish I have discovered it earlier. Our first one was a Tomy Digital. The Tomy Digital was very good when we first bought it but after a while started getting a lot of interference. I had enough and decided to look for another one and found this. Excellent monitor. Like the remote features and ability to change sensitivity etc from remote. It is very quiet with no interference and pick up all relevant sound. Best feature is the intercom. I can now talk to my son over the monitor to tell him to go back to bed if he wakes up at night and he does!!! Definitely recommend it.

I have found this baby monitor to be really good. The basic design of the parent unit is more akin to a cordless phone as it sits in a cradle to charge, uses the same digital technology and has an intercom facility.

The clarity of the sound can't be faulted either and while I really only used the intercom feature to poke fun at my wife while she was in the child's room, the sound quality of her less than impressed response was crystal clear.

I have found a few scenarios where some specific features have come in useful. (apart from the intercom). The sensitivity of the child unit can be adjusted to remove background noise in the room, particularly useful in summer if you have a fan going in the child's room.

The battery backup in the child unit is useful for power outages as we've discovered, but also if you're visiting somewhere and there isn't a mains point handy.

While the temperature alarm is really useful in the winter time (and to a certain extent, the rest of the year), be mindful of the temperature alarm settings in the summer. There's nothing more annoying than the temperature alarm going off when there's nothing you can do about it. (Unless you believe the x-men are real and Storm is your next door neighbour).

Until recently I hadn't really used the lullaby feature, but now our son is almost two, he thinks it's his own personal radio. Not normally a feature I'd look out for.

All in all, it's a pretty decent little pack. I'd recommend it to anyone.

This is an excellent monitor with many good features. The sound quality is very good, i can leave the TV on and still hear my baby when she stirs.

The temperature function is the main reason i bought this monitor and allows you to choose the min and max temperature, this is quite useful as you can set it around your average house temperature. My home is quite warm and it has allowed me to put a smaller margin on the temperature gage for if it gets too hot.

The night light is quite dim but i feel it is sufficient, i currently use it overnight and it is just enough light to allow me to feed my baby without putting on a room light.

The menu system is very simple to use and you can operate the main monitor using the mobile unit. This means you can operate the temperature gage, lullabies, night light as well as speak through the unit like a walkie talkie. The walkie talkie function has to be the fun bit as you can talk to your baby or anyone else near the monitor.

The only negative for me is the lullaby function, there is a selection of tunes but they don't last very long. You can opt to listen to them all together but there are big pauses in between each tune. It would have been nice to have a choice on how long the tune played for or to be able to turn it off once the baby was settled using the monitor. Obviously you can keep putting it on remotely but this gets very annoying.

However this has proved to be a very good purchase, sadly though i purchased it at full price and now Amazon are selling it at a very good reduced price, i could not find it any cheaper than £69.99 (inc shipping)on the internet. So my advice is snap it up while it's reduced!

I have to disagree with the reviewer who said the sound quality was bad on this monitor. My friend has the Tomy Walkabout and that really is hissy and crackly - I couldn't believe she could use it. I have found the BT digital sound quality to be truly fantastic - crystal clear even when I'm out in the garden.

It's also very durable - I've dropped it a few times and it's still perfectly fine and I've had no problems using the belt clip (aside from feeling a bit unfashionable!). I too found it annoying when the screen lit up at night to say the temperature was too high but I just turned up the limits and it's fine - I'm not worried about remembering to turn it down because I can see the temperature on it. It's true what the other reviewer said about the temperature being a degree out - it never matches the growbag egg we bought, but it's useful to see an approximate when you're out in the garden or further away in the house.

The nightlight is a bit pointless because it's too dim and the melodies are pretty tinny and annoying, but I did find the menu easy to use once I'd read the manual.

The sensitivity is amazing and it's very handy to be able to adjust it. It's also able to screen out the music from my baby's mobile and only cut in when she actually makes a noise which is helpful. Plus the green and red lights round the top are very useful in trying to guage how quickly you need to get up there. Often just talking to her over the talkback can settle her down. Again that's crystal clear sound quality.

If I was choosing a baby monitor now I would buy this again and have found the carry case very handy when staying away from home. The whistles and bells aren't fabulous but I would still pay this price just for the quality of the sound and durability of the units.
