I got one of these telephones for my parents a while back, as I was fed up and worried that whenever I tried to ring them, they never seemed to answer the phone. (No they didn't think I was a salesperson, as how would they know who it was, as there old phone had no number to show who was calling). Now if you don't live nearby and still get no answer from them for a day or so, you do tend to worry if all is well.
I looked at all the different types phones in various shops and the internet, and this one came up as not all being the most suitable but also not too pricey.
The ring tone is nice and loud, it is adjustable and I found that the highest setting was more than ample. (Even with the tv on a high volume, what it is with older people and the volume, I don't know, we can hardly hear ourselves speak over the tv, but they still say it isn't quite loud enough. With this phone it really does make it impossible to miss hearing it ring. Plus there is also a light which flashes when the phone rings.
The other thing which is good is that they are less likely to dial the wrong number (as the buttons are a nice big size even for someone with biggish fingers (down to swelling etc) no getting numbers next to each other mixed up. Plus the number you dial also comes up on the top of the phone so you can double check that you have dialed the right number.
It is hearing aid compatible which is another plus for a lot of older people.
I can say hand on heart that since this phone was bought a call hasn't been missed.
Just wished I had bought one of these before for them.
