BT Baby Monitor 250

The BT Baby Monitor 250 comes with HD-sound, parental talk-back, a wide range of lullabies and room temperature monitor--giving you even more peace of mind with your baby.

The monitor is proud winner a host of awards, including the Top Mother & Baby Award (Gold Award) 2011, Mumsnet Best award, Gurgle.com 'Top Product' award, and 'Best Baby Monitor Brand' from Prima Baby & Parenting Magazine.

So what’s so good about the BT Baby Monitor 250?

HD Digital Sound and Parental Talk-back

Like the BT Baby Monitor 200 and the Baby Monitor Pacifier, the Baby Monitor 250 has crystal clear digital HD sound, and a talk-back feature. The parental talk-back allows you to calm your baby when you're not in the room, while the Hi-definition Sound (Hi-dS) ensures no more crackling sounds or interference.

The screen on the parent unit allows you to check the temperature, set reminders, and change lullabies, all from downstairs.

Lullabies

The 250 comes combined with a wide-range of lullabies (from Mozart to "twinkle, twinkle"), all of which have been proven to calm and relax babies.

Huge Range for a Digital Baby Monitor

It has a huge range of 50 m indoors and 300 m outdoors, so you can be sure to always be in contact as you move around your home.

Rechargeable Batteries

The parent unit contains rechargeable batteries, giving you the freedom to move around normally within your home while still keeping contact with your baby.

Nightlight and Torch

Once baby is asleep, keeping them undisturbed is always important. The featured nightlight and torch functions allow you to find your way around baby's room without having to turn on the main light.

Check the Temperature, Set Reminders

The BT Baby Monitor 250 comes with a screen on the parental unit that allows you to check the temperature, change the lullabies and set reminders, wherever you are. The 250 also includes a temperature-changing nightlight that changes depending on how warm baby's room is. This allows you to see if the room is too hot or cold at a glance.

Alerts and Reminders

Set a reminder for bed time, feeding or even your favourite TV programme. All of our monitors come with various modes of alerting you to sounds in the baby's room--full sound monitoring, beeping, flashing lights, or vibrating--ideal for when you’re busy doing other things and need to put the monitor in your pocket.

The BT Baby Monitor 250 has won a number of high profile awards, including the Mother & Baby 'Gold Award' 2011.

As someone who has tried different types of baby monitor I feel qualified to say that this is a good monitor. It's easy to set up, the sound quality is good and the range is great. My only real criticism is that, in bringing out a new model, they have felt the need to tinker with things that didn't need tinkering with. The 250 is supposed to 'replace' the 150 which was a completely brilliant monitor. With two young children I needed another monitor so I thought I'd go for the new model. Now, if you're a new Mum you will probably want to hear every snuffle your darling baby makes. This won't last and soon you'll only want to be disturbed in the middle of the night if completely necessary, i.e., if the crying is very loud. The 150 had 5 sensitivity levels, 5 being with the microphone permanently on and 1 and 2 where the sound only transmits when the crying on the other end is at a certain volume. This was a brilliant feature but one that BT have felt the need to meddle with. On the 250 you have the option to 'mute low' which still means you hear loud snuffles and murmurs or 'mute all' which completely turns the sound off and there is a 'crying alert' which you turn on. This only emits a beep or buzz when the crying is loud and is far easier to sleep through than actual crying. I have now got used to this but it isn't the best design.

I also must comment on those people who have criticised the monitor for the tolerance on the temperature gauge being +/- 1 degree. IT IS ONLY THERE AS A GUIDE! It's nice to know the temperature but, short of installing air con in the nursery, what are you realistically going to do if the room is 'too hot'? It is only meant to be there so, if you've laid out a long sleeved body suit, a baby gro and a 2.5 tog Grobag and you look at the monitor and it says 25 degrees, you may think again. These gadgets are not supposed to replace good, old fashioned common sense.

To sum up, it's a good monitor but if you've got a slightly bigger budget go for the 150.

    Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I'm not sure why BT decided to change their numbering system with this model and make a lower rated unit with a higher model number. It's a little confusing for the consumer. Whatever the reasoning of their marketing department, this is actually a very functional monitor. It has the same audio quality as our existing, more expensive 150, but costs almost half as much. It has the nightlight, the torch, the music, and a feeding timer. What it doesn't have is the ability to run the base unit from batteries (it needs to be always connected to the mains) or an input audio socket where you can connect an alternative audio source. The battery powered base unit can be useful if you're travelling or moving baby to a different room for a while, but to be honest I never found a use for the external audio connector on the 150. If you can live without the portability of a battery powered base unit, then the 250 is a great and very good value monitor. I can thoroughly recommend it.

    Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Rather good and stylish looking unit from the old favourites of the telephone range BT.
Great reception, easy to use and innovative due to its nightlight on the baby unit itself, with the clever addition of colour changing temperature warnings; a torch on the clip able portable handset; lullabies and room temperature monitor this is the baby monitor that does just that little bit more.
From a hygiene point of view its great as its easily wipeable, and looks great too fitting in with most nursery colour schemes.
There are issues around battery life however if you can leave the baby unit plugged in that works best, and the battery on the portable handset is basically like a mobile phone; treat it as such and you won't have any worries, it also has a low battery warning noise to help you.
Its also great if you need to have a monitor somewhere else, for example with relatives needing a closer amount of attention; puppies due to be born or a horse in a nearby stable in foal, with this the uses are really as limited as your needs and imagination!
In summary then, a great product, and of course all backed by Amazons second to none customer service!
