We were conned by the smart appearance of this unit, but have had little valuable use from it. The charge does not last very long. The sound volume and quality is not very good and the answer phone does not override the 1571 facility; hence we never get to use it. The final straw is that, after one year, both handsets began to lose the LED display and consequently are unusable. Definitely not value for money.

We were given this set for Christmas by my Dad, who always complained that we forgot to pick his messages up from BT 1571. It was hoped that the answerphone would beep if there was a message so that we would pick it up, but it doesn't - there is only a tiny red flashing light instead, which is easy to miss, particularly if the phone isn't kept in a prominent place.
The other problem we have had with the answer phone is that every message we have listened to on the unit sounds muffled, distorted and garbled and it is a chore to listen to them. They are only clearer (and not much) if the person leaving the message isn't speaking with their mouth too close to their own phone.
Very disappointed as we really had expected better quality from BT. The ringers are cheap and annoying and there are only 3 choices which are all pretty similar.
I wish we could have tried it out first to check the quality.

I studied long and hard over many different phones before I purchased these twin phones with Answering Machine. Why? Well that is just the way I am. I had convinced myself that because we have never had an answer phone,we really did not need one, but I would not be without it now. What finally swung it for me was that they were made by BT who cannot afford to palm you off with sub-standard equipment.

I cannot tell you whether there are better telephones on the market, all I can say is that these are more than adequate for me and my family to use. They are neat and unobtrusive, the number display is OK and you don't have to go to night school to find out how to work them. Take it into the garage, garden, loft, whatever takes your fancy, you can always have it to hand. Unfortunately calls do not come any cheaper, but that is the only minus I can think of.
