Product Description

Product Description

Microfilters are phone adapters which must be plugged into all active telephone sockets on your ADSL line which are used for plugging in telephony equipment (such as telephones, fax machines, PCs and Sky Digiboxes). You'll need one microfilter per socket you wish to connect your telephony devices to. This easy-to-install device ensures clean separation of data signals from voice signals. Without microfilters, you may experience noise on the line when you make or receive a telephone call, or may experience connection problems with your BT Broadband service, including low speeds and disconnections.

Each microfilter has a socket for a standard telephone plug (like those on the end of equipment such as telephones, fax machines and analogue modems) and a socket for a broadband (ADSL) modem. A maximum of four microfilters can be used on an ADSL line. This is the recommended maximum number of items of telephony equipment you can plug into a standard voice line, (known as the maximum Ringing Equivalent Number - REN).

Product Description

The BT ADSL microfilter protects telephone devices (telephones, fax machines and answering machines) from audible noise generated by an ADSL modem connected to the same extension wiring.

I ordered these filters over some of the cheaper ones as I wanted the peace of mind of having BT branded ones. The ones that turned up are NOT BT branded and are a totally different design to the ones shown, They plug directly into the socket and do not have the "tail".

It also says "Box contents: 1 x filter, instructions" these were not even boxed, they were both just chucked into a plastic bag, not even a jiffy bag.

Totally furious at the moment and I have requested a full refund. If refund is not forthcoming i will contact trading standards. I wouldnt use these guys again under any circumstances.

I ordered this via Addonsworld and it arrived within 3-4 days. It is a Microfilter with a tail and sockets for both a telephone cable and modem; the one I recieved was branded as made by BT which I have used to plug my phone into. As a broadband virgin I have little experience of what to expect from this product but three weeks in it seems to work fine and there is no extra noise on my telephone line. I purchased it to use with a Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Firewall Router with 4-port 10/100 switch; this came with its own microfilter in the box and so far I have had no connection or service problems (broadband via Plusnet).
