BT1000 - New in 2013

The UK's number one phone brand* brings you the BT1000, giving you a classic easy to use entry level phone with useful features such as a 50 name and number directory at an affordable price.

The BT1000 Digital Cordless Phone is a 'Great Value' addition to the range of BT cordless telephones. With its stylish/classic black design and amber backlit screen this telephone will look the part in any room. To ensure you hear every word it comes with improved audio performance from our newly designed ear bowl and is simple to use. Other useful features include a 50 name and number directory, caller display and call waiting (so you can see who is calling, even when you are already engaged in a call), 50 numbers call list and a 20 number redial list.

Freedom to Move In and Around Your House

The BT1000 has a long outdoor range of up to 300m and an indoor range of up to 50m. This allows you to walk in and outside the house with freedom and without the fear of your call being interrupted or cut off due to low signal quality.

With the BT1000 you can talk for up to 12 hours on a full charge, or have it on standby for up to 120 hours when the phone is not in use. Perfect for those long conversations, or when you need the phone close to hand.

The BT1000 has type II caller display, so you'll always know who's calling

  • 1.6" two line dot matrix amber backlit screen makes it clear and easy to read
  • High quality buttons have been thoroughly tested to ensure your first use is the same as your 1000th
  • Designed and stringently tested in the UK -- you can be sure the BT1000 will work straight from the box with all the functionality and features as listed.

Safe and Secure

The BT1000 has type II caller display so shows the caller's telephone number on the handset display. If the caller's number matches an entry stored in the phonebook, the name will be displayed instead. With type II caller display you can also see who is calling, even when you are already engaged in a call. (Caller Display is required from your network provider to enable this feature).

Full of Features that are Simple to Use

Other useful features on this phone include conference calling, call transfer and internal calling between handsets (on twin pack), music on hold, 2 line backlit screen, five standard handset and base ringtones with volume control and on/off facility, auto answer, secrecy feature, handset naming, keypad lock, earpiece volume control, call timer, clock, alarm, low battery alert and indicator, out of range alert and indicator and a call waiting indicator.

The BT1000 is available in a single or twin pack should you need an additional handset for another room. Whichever pack you buy you will only need one telephone socket in your home to work the handsets.

This is a well designed phone that does what it is supposed to do. The handset is light but feels nicely balanced in the hand, controls are straightforward, buttons are reasonably large and have a soft rubbery surface. In terms of sound quality, I would say it is a little sharper than some other phones I'm famliar with (such as Panasonic) which aids clarity. Range seems good - on the first floor of my house it connects with no problems with the base station two floors below. Only thing lacking is a 'hands-free' facility - something I only use occasionally but is nevertheless useful. Other than that, nothing negative to say about this product; it offers good value for money.

Bought this for an outbuilding for the odd bit of use, and at about £15 including postage you can't go wrong. Okay it doesn't look ultra modern or as good as my panasonic ones indoors and I would have liked a loud speaker, but for the money I am surpised they can sell them at such a low price. I guess a new genuine replacement battery wouldn't be much cheaper than the whole thing, which is the phone, battery, base and mains adaptor. Unsure what people would expect for £15, and how on earth can someone complain that you have to pay your telephone company for the caller display facility, because if you paid a grand for a phone that had caller display, you still have to pay for the caller display service from your provider (I guess the same people expect a new fridge to be delivered full of food).

For a middle range phone this is ok. It's nothing spectacular unfortunately.
The pro's- it looks lovely, it's neat and tidy, decent battery life on it. The screen display is lovely and large, the letters are easily readable. You can programme numbers into it so you never have to dial a number again. You can also buy additional handsets to go with them so you can have 4 different sets attached to the same station. There are five different tones to choose from as well, one of the is particularly shrill if you are hard of hearing.
The cons... the caller display is not a function within the phone. This is only available as a subscription through your service provider. I am a ditz and didn't know this so I thought I'd state it here so others would know.
The phone is plastic and feels plastic. Then there's this weird echo type sound on the phone. There wasn't one with my other line so I am attributing this to the phone itself.
OVERALL the phone is ok, just ok. If you're looking for middle price, nothing special then this phone is for you.

I ordered this set which was described as 'used but in mint condition'. On receipt, I noticed the box was a bit tired looking but the phones and cables etc all looked new - suspect it was probably a display model or one that had been returned to Argos by someone who had actually meant to buy a trampoline. All in all I saved a tenner against new and feel I got a good deal.

As for the phones, it is a set for my elderly mother who simply wanted a no frills, cordless twin set that could actually make phone calls (rather than launch a satellite, make a Sunday lunch or take the dog for a walk). The handsets and stands are light weight plastic and although neat and smart they are quite basic and unimpressive visually. What I do like is the fact that charging, set up and use is actually straight forward - even an adult can do it! The screen is clear, as are the keys and you simply press the green button to talk and the red button when you've heard enough......simples. The sound quality is actually quite good, although some reviewers consider it to echo ( I certainly don't find this). One criticism is that the ring volume is not the loudest I've heard, and therefore may not be suitable for the hard of hearing.

All in all, for £20 (£30 new) I would say this basic twin set is ideal for elderly folk, cheapos or anyone else who simply wants to make calls without spending a fortune on tech...........oh, and the AAA batteries are a doddle to change.

Very poor sound quality when talking on the phone. BT were no help when l rang to see if the problem could be fixed, so l contacted Amazon for a refund which l got.
This is the third set of BT phones I've had and they've only lasted a couple of years, so l paid extra and bought Panasonic. ...massive improvement!

It's cheap and does the job for basic use. But very simple, doesn't even have a speakerphone. Very light handset.
