Product Description

Product Description

The BRITA Edition Premium Glass water filter jug also includes 1 Maxtra cartridge. Tap water in the UK is perfectly safe. However, it doesn't always taste, look or smell as pleasant as we'd like, and the effect can be noticeable not only in drinking water but in hot drinks and food cooked in water. BRITA water filter products use a mixture of carbon and ion exchange resin to remove hardness, chlorine, heavy metals such as lead and copper, and other organic impurities to improve the taste, smell and appearance of cold and hot drinks. The Edition Premium water filter jug uses the BRITA Maxtra cartridge for 20% better limescale reduction. It features an easy-flip lid for easier filling, and 'Memo', the electronic cartridge exchange indicator to remind users when to change the cartridge.

I didn't want a plastic water jug as I don't like the idea of storing water in plastic. The jug functions fine but you have to be very careful as it is rather delicate. I'd imagine one knock and it would break. I've managed to avoid breaking mine so far and have had it about three months. Yes the metal rings do rust but you can take them off by pulling off the outer rim on the handle and then unscrewing the screws with a star driver. They should have made the rings out of stainless steel and made a better quality glass jug - I would have paid more for better quality. The Brita filters are fantastic I must say. The tap water we have here tastes absolutely awful - it's like drinking a cup of chlorine so I doubted that they would work but to my amazement they do. I drink tea without milk and it tastes revolting unless the water is filtered or I use bottled water. Its a shame the water authorities add so many nasty chemicals otherwise our water would taste very nice.

It's a good jug, and there are many competing filter manufacturers, so you don't have to buy Brita. However, after 4 months usage, the metal rings have rusted on the inside. Therefore though the glass jug you can see the big rust spots, and you can't take them off to clean them. Whilst it doesn't affect the water inside the jug, it's not very nice...

I have used the glass edition for about a year now and have had the opportunity to compare it to the plastic jugs we have from Brita. The difference in taste is staggering. The water that has been stored in the glass container tastes fresh and clean whereas the water sitting in the plastic jug tastes stale and "dead", even after a fairly short period of resting in there (a day). I now wanted to order a whole stack of glass jugs to replace all plastic in our house but they are not stocked anymore! I hope this is only a temporary blip as I would hate to have to continue drinking water from anything else but the glass jug. The design looks good too and whilst the lid and the mat might not be perfect (yet) the quality of the water that you get easily makes up for that. In my case also the inside steel rings have not rusted so I cannot agree with others who have commented on that.

I bought this jug 10 months ago because I don't like storing water in plastic. I have found this jug to be very durable -- my husband has dropped it twice and no breakage occurred! It is also attractive -- used daily and no rust at all anywhere! It is easy to clean and the filtered water tastes great! I have not had any problems with it and could recommend it wholeheartedly.

The jug looks good and performs like any other Brita system. I bought it because I don't like my water sitting in a plastic container. I am not particularly satisfied with it because it leaks all over the place when I try and fill the kettle.

I e-mailed a simple question to their customer service about how much chlorine is removed by their filters and did not receive a response.

An outfit with their experience should be able to design a jug that pours without dripping everywhere and they ought to have a decent customer service.

Poor quality from a company such as Brita - Looks nice when new but within 6 months chrome rings rust making jug look shabby.
Base mat is annoying, made of thin plastic sticks to base of jug when lifted and then drops off.
Overall very disappointing! I would hope for it to remain respectable for more than six months.

To be fair to Brita since my comments above Brita are aware that some units have had this problem and a replacement is on its way.

An excellent product - I've always been relatively happy with BRITA products except for the spouts which are always so fragile. The spout is so much better than on the plastic jugs; it's so much sturdier. The jar is easier to use and assemble.

And I love the fact that the Edition Premium jug is glass and not plastic. I'm trying to eliminate the use of all plastic from our household and love this glass jar.

The purchase and delivery were also excellent. I can highly recommend this product and supplier.

Having purchased this some time ago I can now give a more insightful review; I hope! lol! I'll start by saying that it's such a relief to have a glass water filter. Why? Believe it or not it makes a vast difference in the taste of the water. There is a very noticeable difference in the 'smoothness' and 'crispness' of the water compared to a plastic one. Okay, not everything is glass but the water doesn't sit in the filter holder for long, it sits in the jug and that's where this is far superior to any plastic ones I've had. No matter how often I cleaned the plastic one there was a build-up of...limescale (as I live in a very hard water area) and I don't know what else but this is eradicated with this. There have been minimal signs of limescaling on the lip of the glass jug but this comes off pretty easily unlike the plastic alternatives whereby the scrubbing marks the jug and makes it look pretty horrible in a relatively short period of time. But again, the difference is the taste which is what would sell this to me over and over again. Well worth the purchase!
