A revolution! 5 Mar 2011

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
Any one who has set up a train track for their little one, only for them to immediately knock down the bridges balanced on the wooden supports will LOVE this product.

The supports are really stable, and so they make hills stay up. Plus you can then have really long bridge sections, or, even stack them for a 3 level train track. I think I now as much fun building the track as my sons having playing with it!

I think these supports are a must have, definitely worth every penny!

These risers are amazing. The ones that came with our train set were a disaster. My son would be in tears by the end of play from having everything constantly plummet down, and we would be annoyed that he would keep coming to us for help every 10 seconds.
We replaced ours with these ones recently ( as well the smaller - red topped ones - from BRIO ) and the set has yet to crumble. They are sturdy, good quality, durable and versatile. Very well thought through and makes the train set 100x more enjoyable.
Highly recommend.

Very Stable 16 Feb 2002

The tracks are well supported, and you can stack them to have a cross track, not just an overpass going the same direction. The Thomas supports are not as flexible, i.e. all of the track has to be going the same direction (left to right or top and bottom)Really well built like all Brio.

Expensive, but has a lot going for it. 2 Dec 2002

Two supports for fifteen bucks is expensive even for Brio. However, they have a lot of features. They can be stacked in any direction. They can serve as a tunnel. They are the same length as the shortest track, so you keep your symetry in check. They have a little lip under the point where you connect them, so a track connected to them will not fall through (no other support needed), which is the primary reason I like them because it can get frustrating for my kids to keep knocking the supports out from under the tracks.

Some things I would like to see:
There should be value packs available - if you want to stack just one set of two supports, you'll need two for the stack, and another two for the two ramps that get you from ground level up to the first level. You'll probably wish to turn while at level 1 because four bridges in a row is a lot of straight track, so you're looking at 6 supports needed to approach anything interesting.
It would also be nice to have gender changer versions.

Great item in multiples 9 Sep 2009

The stackable bridge supports are very sturdy and work well. In order to stack multiple levels you will need probably at least 3 sets or more of the supports and lots of room to build. Laying out track with these is a little tricky because of the supports bigger footprint which only allow lower track to be parallel or perpendicular to the support. I use the stackable bridge supports in conjunction with the BRIO Super Supports. The Super Supports have a smaller footprint but aren't as stable. The combination works well for me.
