This seems to go forever on one charge - I mean over 8 hours or so! Has no problems pulling loads of wagons on the level. BUT its totally ruined by the fact that it won't make it over any of the standard Brio hills or bridges, even on its own, the wheels just spin. Also the wheel turning mechanism (two wheels at the back on a pivot) seem to cause it to come off the track or get stuck around corners constantly. I'd advise you to try one of the other models for this reason. I can't advise as I haven't tried the newer models yet, but the reviews seem to suggest they're better up the hills.

Oh - one more thing - the switch on top for forward/reverse and off is absolutely impossible for a 2 year old to work. Who designs this stuff!!!?

We recieved this with the wrong type of power plug - a two pin plug. We can only charge it via a shaver socket.
It also does have problems with the steering as the front wheels lift off the track, especially up hills.
I bought this model as I thought the 4WD would be better to go up hills as the other 2wd models spin wheel. It does seem to have enough traction but steering lets it down.

This engine is disappointing because the switch on the top is so difficult to operate. Too tricky for 2 or 3 year olds. Its small, stiff and hard to grip. My son often ends up pressing down on the engine to operate it, and after a couple of months has damaged and switch and misaligned the wheels! Pity, because otherwise its a great toy. The charge lasts for ages and its very strong - it can pull ten or so carriages with ease. The other problem is going over bridges. Unless the track and bridges are lined up with painstaking precision, it'll usually fall off the track (this was an issue before the wheels were bent).
