Much better than the other battery-operated engine (that came with our first starter set). That had a fiddly switch at the top whereas this has simple big buttons for forward, reverse and stop (much better for our two year old!). It even has a switch to change into push-along mode and has little trouble coping with slopes and longer trains (unlike UK rail companies my daughter likes nothing better than to load on the carriages!). Be aware you'll need two (AAA) batteries but this just makes it stronger and last longer.

It's a little red engine. It makes chuffing noises. It wanders round the track and up and over the wee bridges in an agreeable fashion and doesn't fall off it much. It even has a switch so that you can push it round the track when the battery goes flat. And you're going to need AAA size rechargeables: it eats alkalines, which was only to be expected. Er... that's it.
My grandson loves it with the love that little boys have for small red engines. Perfect.

we bought this to replace our Brio train that had been broken. This one was a little more expensive than others but it was worth it as it appears to have more power. it pulled more carraiges than our previosu one
